It's all your fault... Every single one of you...

... and BMW's of course!!!

Because of BMW and all you cool peeps on this forum, I am now on the hunt for my first car ever, a F80 M3!!! I've been bottling up my gear tendencies for years since I live in the city and don't really need a car. But now, I have a kid on the way and need a safe, practical and responsible car. Hence the m3 Hoping to order this weekend.

Just wanted to say hello and thanks to all that post because I've learned much from peeping these forums.

Wish me luck on my m3 hunt and feel free to give any words of advice.

Cheers!

Marrk

With a buggy and all that stuff a 3 series sedan would never work for me. touring yes, but not the sedan.

No worries. Got the car seat and stroller picked out. Should fit nicely in the trunk. I live in the city and walk to almost everything. The car is more for if we need to get out of the city, etc. Not so much as a people mover or hauling larger amounts of stuff around.

You Do realize that the M3 is the high performance version of the 3 series right? And that your name has two R's in it?

Best of luck mate! I bought my first M3, a purple E36 coupe when my boys were very young children.. We used to pack them all into the back of that car.. White leather... at least it was for a while :-)

You will get good advice from people on this forum about what to look for, good and bad, so make sure u let us know what you are thinking about.

You asking me or 7woodman7, lol. I just called it a 3 series because that's the term he used.

Indeed, I know the m3 is not the typical 3 series.

Where's the love on this forum, lol!?!?

Thanks, brother! I know I'll outgrow the m3 eventually but wanted to fulfill my fantasy while I am still relately young. Another factor is that life is too short. Just had a cousin pass away 2 weeks ago at the age of twenty one. Reminded me that I should live life and enjoy it :/

you're going to love it! what are your specs?

oh crap, you're in NYC? potholes and assholes drivers are all over that city. Get the adaptive suspension. maybe want to consider 18's... or get the bent rim coverage!

seriously, I would consider a x5m on those streets- really an urban jungle.

Wow I'm really sorry to hear that,... thats awful. Big reminder to enjoy the time we have on this earth! You may outgrow whatever car you buy but you will not outgrow M cars.. I'm on my 8th, just believe and enjoy the journey! Congratulations on the new child BTW (Don't get white seats!)

Actually just moved to Chicago recently to be close to family. But the potholes here are even worse, lol. I work from home and the wife takes the train, so she won't see too potholes. Probably more highway and suburban roads.

Specs I'm thinking, AY or MG, carbon roof, 6 speed, 19's and SO extended leather. She'll be my stripper... car.

So pumped. Already took 5 test drives. Was deciding between this or the GLA45 AMG. When the wife liked the m3 better, I was good to go. She was actually the one that taught me how to drive stick when we first met, lol.

Just my experience. If it works for you, go ahead and have fun with that car!

You get this a lot round here. Ignore it, as there are enough supportive folk kicking around.

The idea that you can't fit everything you need for your kid in the boot of an M3 is ridiculous. Some people deploy with children as though they're going on some sort of military exercise! If I can take my wife, a 3-year old and a 1-year old away for a long weekend in a CSL, you get the idea.

Just wait until you actually buy the thing. You'll get 90% 'congrats' etc, but 10% of warriors out there representing the Taste Police.

Enojoy the car - what spec have you gone for?

Funny, I am visiting in laws in NYC right now and it is making me so happy that I live in San Diego. NYC is an awful place to be a car enthusiast and have a high performance car.

Good friends dont't tell you only what you wanna hear.
I told my honest opinion to this topic. The trunk of the F80 will not work for my needs. To make a 3 day jurney with kid and all you need. Just my opinion!
