European Delivery and Performance Center Delivery?

My ED vehicle should get to the dock in Brunswick, GA at the end of the month. I've read that it is in theory possible to get both ED and Performance Center Delivery. When I bought the car, I was told it was one or the other. This sort of makes sense, since when I got the Performance Center Delivery last time, the dealer arranged for someone to drive me to Spartanburg (a 2 hour drive) and I was put up in a hotel the night before at no cost to me.

I don't want to ask for anything from my dealer that costs him money. I can provide my own transportation and housing, so.....at this late date, with everything signed and paid for, does it make any sense to ask my dealer if I could get the PCD?

You can do ED+PCD no problem. We do them all the time.

its IMO the best delivery option you can do through BMW. So much win.

You would have had to schedule this prior to your pick up and contracts signed.

100% you can do both as Golfrr confirmed. I met a guy in Munich picking up a 335 that got his car in SC. It may even save you some time getting the car back. I'm in Texas and it took 10 weeks for me.

I am planning an ED delivery in May and also live in Texas. It took 10 weeks to take re-delivery at PCD? Did you drove back to Texas? Which port did you drop off in Europe?

You can do ED and PCD, I believe others have done it on the forums. The only thing is that the information packet I received said that it will actually take 8-10 weeks to reach the PCD.

I went the ED + PCD route. Surprisingly, my car cleared customs in Brunswick the day it arrived, should be leaving the VDC for SC sometime this week.

It shouldn't cost your dealer anything extra to do PDC with ED. It actually saves the dealer the prep work. At this point now the main obstacle is going to be changing the paperwork and the additional wait time. Your dealer sounds a little uninformed, lazy, or deceitful by telling you ED and PCD can't be done together. You could have trouble arranging PCD through them at this late date.

I am wrong and should have been clearer with the dates.

I live in Houston and bought my car in August. Picked it up in Munich September 25th and dropped it off in Paris Oct 1st. I got the car back at my Houston Dealer just before thanksgiving. So closer to 7-8 weeks vs 10. Sorry for the confusion on that. I'm actually surprised I was so off, I tracked that vessel every day.

Keep in mind I dropped it off in Paris and was told any non-German drop off could add a week to the re-delivery. I would assume a clean ED (drop off in Germany, pick up at local Texas dealer) would take 6-7 weeks total after you give it back. Enjoy the experience, it was far better than even I was expecting. Let me know if you need any other details.

OK, I'll ask for the Performance Center Delivery, expect a no, but hope for the best. My $500 BMW Car Club rebate just arrived today, so I figure it is either a good omen or fine consolation.

Well good news and bad news. The dealer is happy to try and make the PCD work even at this late date. The bad news is that the first available slot for PCD is probably in March if I'm lucky. Well I've done the PCD once and it was great, but I don't have the patience to wait a month plus for it. Oh well, thanks for all of the useful feedback.
