I love the fitment of these wheels now. The correct tire and size made the difference. They are bimmerworld TEAL 16 with Yokohama A052 265/40-18's square. Track tested and driver approved. Sorry she's a little dirty and in need of a proper camera and picture setting, but these images will have to do for now.

Thank you for the kind words. She does behave nicely on track. Driver needs more seat time though

I'm hoping supply chain issues don't force me to the Federal FZ tire.

Wow this is a great chart, ty. So which of these would comfortably fit the oem 513m 18" wheels? I really wanted to do 295/35 on the rears but as your chart illustrates there aren't many options in that column. 😫

I think 295 is too wide for 10 inch wheel. I recommend something in these sizes, especially the Falkin. After you destroy those, consider investing in a wider wheel setup if you want to go deeper. Square is the way to go. 10.5x18 or 10x18. BimmerWorld, APEX, Titan, etc.

Thanks for your reply! Not even 265/285 ? Or is that they are too hard to find

No prob. There aren't track worthy 285/35 options as far as I know. To have a 285 you'd be forced to 30 aspect. More sidewall is generally better.

Nankang NS2Rs come in 285/35 - couldn't find much feedback from F80 folks tho, could be a dark horse

Good point. I think that tire is discussed in this short review (linked below). It sounds like a very versatile option - good wear and it can handle wet conditions.

OP, don't be scared of Nankang's just because the name is funny to say. I've been having success with their the CRS tire and plan to try the AR1 next.

Quick question. Would it be possible to run the same size tire on the OEM 513m wheels (staggered setup, not square) such as Nitto NT01 275/35r18

I've seen people run 275's on the stock fronts (with 295's on the stock rears) so I'm thinking why not just run 275/35 all around for now. Eventually I'd look for an extra set of 513m rears so i can square it up.

Thoughts?

A 275 tire is too big for a 9 inch wheel. You find me wearing Magnums.

Nice. How do you like the AR1? I am about to mount a set after having sucess with the CRS. Have you tried those? Curious if you can compare the two in terms of pace, endurance, heat tolerance, etc.

I haven't tried the other Nankangs, but heard good things. I come from NT-01's so I can compare it to those. The Nankangs are slightly faster, are more responsive due to the stiffer sidewalls, but don't stay as consistent as you put in some more laps and more heat into them. I have gone through about 6 sets of NT-01 which wear well, but haven't gone through a full set of AR-1 yet. They look to be a bit softer and will wear faster, but they start with a lot more tread depth than NT-01. I carry my track wheels in the back of the car so I typically run my tires until they cord as I have another set I use to get the car home.

275 is way too big for a 9" wheel. I run 275/35/18 squared on 18x10. A 10.5 wheel is probably better for the 275s, especially ones that run wide. Look at each manufacturer (or tirerack's) recommended wheel width for a particular tire and ideally your wheel width should be on the wider end of the range.

Hey all, just got the Hankook RS4 265/40 295/40 mounted on the new APEX VS5RS 10s and 11s. Now I think I'm going to go with the eibach euro lowering springs. Cant go to low cause we drive it quite a bit.
