The layout of the ID7 instrument cluster does make it more difficult to read speed quickly, but I've to say the Alpina cluster seems to work a bit better. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1667831 I think the font and colour make a positive difference. Really was not digging the stock cluster with the red/orange background, though still cannot stand the album art cover screen on the right side. Just too tacky and busy.

Good thing I've got HUD.

ID8 is even a bigger step back, judging from my look around an i4 on the lot. And yeah, the curved screen looked very much out of place.

Talking about ADM…..

….a Toyota RAV-4 Prime sells for $15k-over. The market is dictating this craziness and it's not going away any time soon. If the unnamed BMW dealership can be labeled a scummy, then every manufacturer from Honda to Ferrari should be too. After all, Ford has been charging mark-up on Raptors since 2015 at least; the SVT Focus since 2016.

I mean, I absolutely love the analog M and always disliked digital gauges in general, especially in BMWs but at the very least the integration of ID7 was on point even though I don't like screens everywhere, but now, the ID8 update already looks outdated, very much like every single EV and tacked on, what the hell are they doing, it's not even integrated in the dash anymore, just straight up slapped on there

That's why I went to Longo Toyota. They are the dealership that actually doesn't sell with markup. You have to wait but they don't do markups, apparently it is against company policy.

Every other Toyota dealership I have gone to have asked for ADM. Even a leasehacker seller (dealership) have asked for ADM.

Seeing as the iX is a minivan and the i4 was the M50 version, I opted for the i4.

Usually the BMW test drive events are around 15-20 minute drives with some mix of highway. I think for this drive I spent barely five minutes in the car total. Complete waste of time, essentially I drove around a mall and was told that I could "open the car up" when reaching main roads, only for the passenger attendant to get scared every time I tried.

Only thing I really got to test was acceleration and braking. Acceleration of course was quick, easy considering it was an AWD EV, and punches you back in your seat. Brakes were mediocre, somewhat vague in their bite and feel as they had a bit of that mushy feel of hybrids. Annoyingly to change brake feel/regeneration its buried within a settings menu. Why BMW didn't just use paddles like everyone else, I have no idea. Also the gauges don't tell you what regeneration mode your in, so I had no idea what mode it was for the entire drive. Steering was typical BMW fashion, synthetically heavy and numb. Not really much else I can say besides I'm sure it makes an easy daily, but the drive was pretty much worthless.

Funny thing was there was an older man there to test drive who apparently owned an M3. He kept repeatedly saying he wanted to test drive the M5, which confused the representative who clearly didn't know much about cars and was saying the options were i4 and iX. The man must have been deaf or something with no volume control as he kept screaming he wanted to drive an M5 not a 4, so I had to interject and explain that the car was an i4 M50. Just another reason the M badge shouldn't be on this car.

Other than that, the free water bottle is pretty nice, rest of the event however… :

Ford has had the scummiest dealers for a long time IMO. The stories I’ve read on M6G and elsewhere are pretty crazy. Plus some of my own personal experiences.

I will say I’ve been very lucky with my local Ford dealer, always been very upfront and kept their word.

The vehicle sold most often for more than MSRP in 2021? Jeep Wrangler. About 25% of Jeeps sold for more than MSRP. I was surprised to read that because it means that less than 25% of Porsche models sold for over MSRP, but maybe the news article I read excluded niche models.
Nothing related to this post, but I got my VS-5RS last week. They turned out great and the anthracite will look really nice with the black. Did you get yours on the car yet?

I know not the most popular car amongst this crowd, but I got the ZL1 coated and some PPF done. Black is stunning when clean.

Yup I do.

Actually I been going to the Shell on Las Tunas now. I would be going to the one close to NC but the ramps there are a bit of a pain in the butt.

Thx and sadly so true. Especially living on/by a lake, this is bug country. Hopefully some of the bug remover products I bought coupled with the ceramic coating will help make removal a bit easier.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't hate the CSL as much as I thought I would. Don't think that would convert me back to M, but I love the craziness of it for craziness' sake.

The seats looks somewhat nice from the photos but the rest of the car looks rather over the top "cheap" and fits the "lipstick on a pig" line

These cars, the iX and i4's will never look good to me with these huge grills, weird and seemingly incoherent design elements and with the upcoming big ultrawide screens just there to streamline it and slapped on without a single thought to it, not to mention it already looks like older tech from 2010 that exist in every single car since Tesla ever, bah.

I mean for gods sake, it's supposed to be a "drivers sports car" but they're doing everything to take away driver orientation

At least the M4 won't fall victims interior wise until '24 MY

These cars will never ever look good - paint it black and delete the scat pack decals - but I'm just happy they've found the will and means to produce a performance variant. It's what M is for.

To me it reminds me of Mach 1 Mustang with those graphics and color scheme.

I do like the ducklip spoiler and interior bits. The grill still ruins the car for me which is unfortunate. Waiting on new M2cs.

The 2er will be interesting but seems like it will get that big screen too and not a integrated cockpit
