Monticello MC next week - BMW 1/2 day track event?
anyone else get an email invite for this track session?
I think paying off my lien with BMW FinServ must have triggered it. Pretty cool.... 1/2 day session with instruction and track time in M2C, M3, and M5C if I recall correctly. They also allowed me to register a guest. i'm signed up for the Tue 7/16 afternoon session. |

well it was fun as AF
did the afternoon session today. drag racing in M5C and M2C which sounds ghey but was actually great fun, autocross course in m240i, and lapping on the road course behind instructor in new 3 and 4 series cars.
it was 10x more fun than I expected. a fellow bimmerpost member and I took 1st and 2nd in the timed autocross out of about 50 participants. on the road course following an instructor in an M3C, I got to do quite a bit of hooning in the 3 and 4 series grocery-getters (getting yelled at on the radio the whole time to chill the F out and follow the instuctor's line). we really pushed those cars to the limit. fun day. thank you BMW. |

Especially on the hard breaks. First time I’d done autocross. I wanted one more lap. Nicked a cone on the second Lap and hesitated on exit. Lost momentum. Still fun Thought the m5 was fast but way big and heavy. Good for a pseudo drag race. Not the car for me. I really liked the m2cmp the little I Was able to drive it. Instructors all loved the m2 and I know why. Felt very agile and nimble. The 3 and 4 series were Okay. Not exactly fast. The 4 had summer tires at least. Honestly was happy to be back in own car. Took a very scenic way home. Lots of twisty roads Very little traffic. Wish I could do it again. Last edited by alfonseexists; 07-17-2019 at 04:00 PM.. |
