Anyone upgrade early M3/M4 to 2018 Icon LED headlights?

Anyone with a 2015-2017 M3/M4 LED headlights upgrade to the 2018 Icon lights?

I figure it would be a total plug-and-play if you have existing LED headlights.

I'd love to do this as the new lights are so much more aggressive looking than the original LED design....probably super expensive for the headlights though.

Its possible but expensive. A competent local shop has done it here.

IND had mentioned that they will provide the lights and respective modules as one of their product offerings. No ETA has been provided.

There is just too much risk it seems to source these ourselves with differences between euro spec and NA spec.

Depending on the price that IND offers for the full set, I may be interested.

I upgraded from 2015 Xenon to 2018 Icons. Complete headlight assembly with modules should range 4800-5500 depending on vendor.

I recommend Brittany@bmwpartspro for parts and Alex@alpinemss for coding.

You can find headlights on the used market but they are limited avail. I decided that the savings wasn't worth the potential headache for something at this price point. I came across a used set that I can refer to you if interested.

Wow..I was expecting closer to $3K than $5K. I'd be better off trying these bavgruppe demon eye rings.

Did you have to extend any wires? Thinking about picking up a set.

If you already have Adaptive LEDs, would it be cheaper and possible to just buy the ICON housings and transfer your modules over ect?

No cutting or splicing of the factory harness. The fitment between the harness and new headlights are very tight so I cut (2) zip-tie type fasteners (1 on each side) to give some slack to the factory harness. Once adjusted you can resecure using the same mounting point.

You will have to run 2 new wires from the fuse box to the headlights. I used a harness supplied by @Marius76 that added the 2 necessary wires. He handle this part of the install on my car. Great guy very skilled with retrofit on our platform.

That's a lot of $$$ for an aesthetic mod if the car already has LED headlights.

The new headlights do look nice, especially since there is significantly less chrome (that's the one thing that bothers me about the pre-LCI LED headlights).

Plan is to keep mine as well, yet I hesitate dropping $5k on headlights, then another $8-$10k on wheels. Especially after I've already spent a bunch of post-purchase $ on the car already.

Trying to avoid going further down the slippery slope even though it is a daily struggle. Damn the mod bug.

Going from xenon to LED was a major difference. I can't stop admiring these icon headlights and CS taillights

There's always the option of used parts which turned out great for another member.

Mod bug for real. I need rehab

The darkened and refreshed DRL LCI headlights make the car. Go for it.

IMO both lights miss the mark a bit.

The original LED headlights have too much chrome, specifically the corner/turn signal area, and look a bit old school.

The LCI-LED headlights are blacked out too much and look kinda cheap.

I like spending money on mods - not flushing it down the toilet though.

Let's take a closer look at this statement.

M-Perf Engine cover cost roughly the same as LCI LED Taillights.

Eventuri intakes are half the cost of LCI LED headlights.

Unless purchaser is the type that pops the hood everywhere they go; some would consider this amount of money spent to be flushed down the toilet.

Cut it out mate

Modding a BMW is an expensive hobby. After simple bolt-on; prices will escalate very quickly.
I'll be the first to admit that I have a blackbelt in flushing money down the toilet when it comes to modding my F80.

Perhaps "flushing down the toilet" was abit harsh.

The statement wasn't in relation to modding - more the fact that honestly the difference is so subtle to my eyes anyway that I just couldn't justify it.

For an 8K mod at least here in oz - I can barely tell the difference pre and post. So let me revise the statement and call it money better spent elsewhere.
