FYI PSA Dealers willing to do iStep updates

Dealer is updating my 16 f80 Istep software. Had to sign a "waiver" that if it crashes they are not liable. Car is still under warranty. Just thought that was a little ridiculous...

Word to the wise, trust your dealers if they are going to do these things for you. Not all of them are qualified to do it, having the tech and knowing the tech are two very different scenarios. If all goes well I will be recommending this dealer to everyone for their needs as they are willing to do the iStep updates.

Software updated successfully, car feels much smoother in several ways. No jerky 1st gear take of in sport+ and better shifting/rev matching.

Did they charge you for this? I'm considering asking next time I'm in for service.

They did not charge me for it, I am also still under factory warranty.

im sure it is. i was super pissed because they wiped my coding. and now on top the honk. so ignorant when im trying to stealthy walk away from my ON car.

damn dealers. should charge them what i paid to recode.

Curious does the car actually lock when you leave it on and press the lock button? Or does it just honk to let you know car is on and not lock?

it locks; the horn is annoying. clearly i know my car is on; the honking is a big alert to everyone else that hey this idiot left his ignition on just break the window and free m3.

i see why this is a feature but its damn near impossible for me to exit and lock my car forget tingly leaving it on; just too much noise. electric understandable

I just coded this feature out tonight.... SO ANNOYING. When I travel I bring my cable with me so I can code cars where I go. If I'm in jersey I'll announce it.
