I think I like M3 sedan more than the M4 from all the spy photos of the 2 cars. The back of M4 doesn't look as good as the sedan to me. Kind of disappointed. Well, will see if the fully revealed M4 will look better.
Look at that rear fender flare on the M3 sedan. So aggressive look. Love it. Last edited by suprafrank; 08-08-2013 at 06:03 AM.. |

Uli, why would they be wheeling around in a completely uncovered car that has not yet been revealed officially? Typically the only way we get to see a sneak peak at the final product is when it is caught during a promotional shoot. Is that what you mean - the car is being videoed in SoCal currently?

3-cylinder turbo from the i8 paired with a cage full of angry hamsters.
300 Horse Power (Combustion) engine + 150 Hamster Power = 450 HP total.

hmmm. looks like M3/4 are not any wider than 3/4 regular. I see bigger/wider wheels, but the body work does not seem to be extended... hope I am wrong.

Curb weight typically doesn't include extra equipment like power seats, leather, etc. if you go for those options you end up with a heavier car. However, if you take your own car and measure it you will find it's a few pounds lighter than the official curb weight figure because that includes a full complement of fluids (gas, oil, brake fluid, washer fluid, etc.) as well as a full tank of gas and it also includes 75kg for a driver and some more for luggage. This is how German companies typically list curb weights, it's not so much the actual weight of the car as it is the amount you could expect it to weigh during a typical drive. I was reading the US regulations for gas mileage testing and it said that a manufacturer can use optional equipment if it expects >33% of cars sold to have that particular option fitted. DCT vs manual doesn't really matter for this discussion on curb weights since BMW always lists the car's weight with both transmissions, but if they expect a lot of people to opt for a particular weight-saving option then they may be able to use it to achieve a lower curb weight figure but I don't think that's how it works. I'm pretty sure they have to stick with standard equipment when measuring curb weight, even though they will add a ton of weight onto it for the driver, luggage, etc. Last edited by Remonster; 08-10-2013 at 12:50 PM.. |

Seriously, who gives a f*@%k. I will put all of the features on the car that I want. I miss a rear view camera since selling the S4 and going to a M3, plus a lot of other creature comforts. Step up to the plate, offer all of the tech I want, give me an engine and transmission and suspension that I want and charge me whatever BMW wants. I don't care if it's $80 or $90k, but you better make sure it is better than the Mercedes and Audi product, and I don't expect the new Vette to blow my doors off. Give me the product that I want, period!

Well, as a complete surprise I saw an M4 mule in my local town... It's surprising because I live in a dull town in England, and I've got no idea why they come here.
The car appeared to be a German registered silver M4, though it was virtually completely wrapped with the swirly camo. It did appear to be RHD, but I couldn't swear to that. It was slowing for a roundabout, so even though the engine was entirely unloaded it still sounded pretty good, with a bit of crackle and pop from the exhaust on a downshift... But I've always preferred the I6 to V8 sounds. I saw it on the A45 as it enters Daventry from Rugby. I've seen a camo'd F20 before on the same stretch before.. I'd love to know why they test here!? |
