Yeah, this is exactly how I thought it was going to happen. Thanks!

If you look back at the E92 M3 LCI's history, that started production in March 2010, as MY2011.

It happens frequently. If you go back and look at the production schedules from recent years (you can find them via search), you will see a number of models started in March.

Also, apart from that, it is very, very rare that the subsequent model year's production does not start immediately following the end of the current model year's production. So regardless of the dates, the fact that there will be a four month delay is definitely not commonplace and thus was unexpected.

Is there official word from BMW NA yet on whether 2018 is starting in March or July?

So is the MY2018 M4 gonna look the same on the exterior? I may be ordering one when they start up production, but if we are close to an LCI I could wait.

The MY2018 M4 will be the LCI. Exterior changes will included new headlights and taillights.

I just changed my M2 slot to a 2018 M3 slot, my dealer is saying that I will be able to spec the car in April/May car will go into production in July and I should receive it by end of Sept 2017 at the latest.

Is this accurate? BTW I am in Ontario, Canada

Yes, so far that is accurate.

There was some speculation that MY2018 might be starting in March.

A CA just told me that the factory can't build with full leather at this time. Has anyone here recently placed an order with full leather? Thanks in advance.

In a thread around here it was posted that individual ordering and full leather are closed for the remainder of the 17s being built due to the factory being overloaded. I'm sure people have orders in for those, but they were scheduled long ago.

That's a bummer. With the production shutdown and this, BMW is making it hard to give them 85K.

I placed an order on December 9th for an MY17 M3 with Full leather. Production week is 4. Not sure based on what I am hearing if there will be an issue or not.

My understanding is week 4 is when it should COMPLETE its build so it should go into production a week or so before. Hoping for the best.

Yeah, they kicked my Tanzanite blue order (ordered early September) twice from week 40 to 47, and then to 52k. It is finally on a ship though.

It's not a rumor... those "CAs" should have received the same bulletin as everyone else stating the same exact text. OP is a copy paste of the bulletin, in fact.

And yes, full leather will be switched as well.

Let me preface this by saying I am new here and new to the order process for BMW. I just got off the phone with the Genius line following up on my order which has Silverstone full leather. He was pretty specific with where delays were and for what models. Per the call, ALL individual orders are backed up. In addition, only some models with full leather would have delays. He specifically mentioned X3's as affected but not full leather for M3.

I can't speak to how accurate Genius calls are, this was only second call to them, but the person on the line seemed WAY more specific about where and when delays would happen to leather orders than someone I would have expected was just pushing a story.

I'm scheduled week 4 with full leather M4, will I definitely not be able to get full leather or does t depend?

FWIW, I just called Genius and he said I'm confirmed for week 4 and it's still showing Full Leather? Does that mean anything or not really?
