I think the power specs are more than sufficient with this new chassis setup. This will be one astonishing track car, a force to be reckoned with. Major leap for bmw here

You're assuming it won't overheat at the track...
I'm hoping BMW has figured out to test this car in 100 degress for at least 30 minute sessions.

YES EXACTLY! These newer cars were built with cost and green on the top of their list. Let's get real here, if those 2 weren't much of a concern, we would have a bigger power improvement/difference. This is not a negative comment but just reality. With that said, I am hoping it will weigh in the area of 3450 lbs along with that huge improvement in torque, because that will translate into real power compared to the 3726 and less torque. Will wait a year or two before making a move because to this day I still make any excuse to take the M for a drive, so I'm still in love. Weight is a big factor for me with this upcoming model.

Good Intel says:
435HP
Target weight less than 3300
Book it!

All manufacturers are gonna have to adapt to this new engine style. I pre-ordered by M4 today and was talking to the guy advisor and he said by 2025 all manufacturers are required to have an MPG average of 54.5 or something similar to that figure. Seems ridiculous to me.
This is the same reason Aston Martin built a smartcar thats literally branded with an AM logo, the cynget or whatever. By the looks of it, all the dynamics expected from an M car put with these hp and tq figures, I see no reason to complain.

Under 3,450 would be nice, but closer to 3,250 would be pretty impressive.

Which means 426hp? Usually when someone says, for example, "among top 5", he or she means the 5th position :-)

Continue with the misinformation sir, continue.

Actually, yet so far, the N54 in the 1M and the S63 in yor car are the only M engines underrated.

N54, N55, N20, N26, N63, N47, N57, etc. are all underrated.

Past 2 Generations it was much less of a disparity:

E46 M3 = 333hp/269tq
E39 M5 = 400hp/369tq
Difference of 67hp

E90/92 M3 = 414hp/295tq
E60 M5 = 500hp/383tq
Difference of 86hp

F80/82 M3/4 = 425hp/370tq
F10 M5 = 560-575hp/502tq
Difference of 125+hp

I'd much rather it have "only" 425 HP, but have great steering feel and precision, and controlled body movement, which are more BMW M hallmarks than max HP is.
