Drive a M4 CS from LA to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe now?
I moved to LA not long ago and now I'm looking to drive to several places - Sequoia and Kings valley, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe for vacation in a couple weeks. My wife and I have been at home for too long and need to get away.
I am thinking about driving my M4 CS to these places but not sure if this car is a good choice along the way. Does anyone have any advice? If M4 CS is not suitable what would be your recommendation? |

It's a M4 not a Porsche 356.
Don't overthink it and enjoy your vacation. I really enjoyed my M4 on California Roads. Have fun! |

Ride and seats are fine not an S class or anything but they're good enough imo. Only issue would be the missing armrest. Also have a tire plug kit or be prepared in case you get a nail in your tire as we don't have runflats.

Thanks. I'm not worried about its reliability, I'm more concerned on the road and weather conditions along the way, not sure if the car and tires can handle them well.

Lol that was one concern I have...I'm used to front lip hitting driveways in LA already but I'm not sure in those scenic areas there would be any bigger trouble for this lip.

Not quite the same car (lack of an armrest might actually be an issue for long drives), but I drove my M4 back and forth from STL to Miami multiple times. Most of the time I even drove nonstop, 16-17 hours straight from start to finish. The M4 is absolutely amazing, you never get tired and I can't think of a better car to have for long road trips. A few times I even had a couple hundred pounds of cargo in the trunk, backseat, and passenger's seat. With everything buckled in and locked down securely, the car felt no different.
It's an amazing car for long road trips, can't recommend it enough. |

Don’t think about it twice, just do it.
I drove 4500 miles in 2-1/2 weeks earlier this summer in my M4. Houston - Pasadena,CA - Lake City, CO - Houston Longest day drive Houston to Tucson, about 1050 miles. I left at 5:30 am, arrived 5:30 pm local time.

what would probably be the most annoying thing is the elevated interior noise from the lack of sound deadening.
Othewise, keep the suspension in comfort mode and you'll be golden.

Couldn't be a better car to take. Just came back from a 2100 mile trip from LI to WV to Tennessee with the family. Since there isn't a spare I would suggest bringing a tire plug kit, and some various tools.

Am I the only one that hates the F80 on long road trips? My lower back starts to hurt in a few hours.
