Turbo HELP. PURE STG2+ or Mosselman 65-80

Can you guys help me out with pros and cons of both turbo setups, money is not an issue they’re both expensive….

Mosselman 65-80
Or
Pure Stg2+

Goal is 700 for spirited drives around town no trac/no drag strip
I’m currently FBO stg2 91
F80 M3 Comp

Planning to do the dorsch lift kit and EU5 and add 1 of these turbo setups…

Same boat. I dont have experience with either but I ALWAYS see pure turbos getting rebuilt for some reason and they're always for sale which kind of makes me feel like I should look at other companies.

The pure stg2+ is quite laggy due to its size, so unless you want tons of power you should get a smaller one that is more responsive, like the full race

We had great results with the Mosselman hybrid turbos on our own F80 M3 with excellent performance data from them.

They would be our choice every single time not only for power, but drivability and most importantly reliability.

There’s a BF sale on them too, drop me a DM ✌🏻

I was in this exact same position and decided to go with the Mosselmans.

You should have no issues reaching your stated power goal, and will also have the benefit of better spool characteristics . Which IMO is more fun for daily street driving.

This is a good question but the Pure Turbos you should be comparing them to for a non built motor should really be the Pure Stage 2 HF turbos. Both of these turbos setups have similar spool and overall power bands with around 700+whp with supporting fuel mods.

The Mosselman's should offer a bit more head room if you do decide to build the motor later and max out the turbos.

The PS2+ provide more top end power, but scarifice spool which for most non built cars isn't ideal and daily light to light just isn't as fun IMO.

Good Luck with the purchase!

I have STG2+ and they are very lazy spooling only around 4500rpm but them they GO! Also I'm on my 3 set rn, had smoking issues like others here but pure took care of me.

For a stock engine I would go with mosselman or pure HF if I had to do it again.

That’s where I had ordered mine about five ish weeks ago. Def has been a bit slow but patience is a virtue as there were some quality assurance things Mosselman wanted to do before sending it to ML in the UK to next week make their way stateside for me.

Price wise though, they were the best price I’ve seen. Keeping my stock turbos also so the ~$4100 was hard to beat anywhere else that costed closer to the 5k price point.

Agree 💯
Price and power can’t be matched at this rate and keeping stock turbos without being price gouged is a plus as well

Ever thought about the LM700 (Ladermanufaktur)?
I'm running 680hp/870nm with these turbos. Spool is close to OEM!

Order mine yesterday, it’s even cheaper for Black Friday and no taxes.

The flat DHL shipping no taxes was icing on the cake, agreed.

Hardest part is going to be the wait as I’m six weeks in and they’re about to ship out from ML next week so should have the State side in about two weeks from now.

if you aren’t getting ps2+, i would suggest getting vargas gc or gc+ over mossleman. they spool quicker than ps2+ and are less laggy and have a hp rating for 850whp while mosslemans are rated a little lower.

also the vargas black friday deal helps as well, they were 25% off yesterday but i still think they have 20% off as of right now on the vargas website. no core charge as well.

Bit new here. So you selected no core charge and you can keep your stock turbos?

Yup yup. The price difference to have them go back over seas wasn’t worth the effort so I’m going to hang my stock ones in my office as a reminder to myself when I said I wouldn’t fill send this car a few months ago.

Ordered mosselman turbos in September and still haven't received them. Smh. Website says in-stock on mosselman website and they aren't. Smh. I hope they never fail. I'd wouldn't want to wait 2 months for a replacement turbo.
