Its interesting that the GT3RS doesn't really have that much more oomph on the straight compared to a stock F80. I was doing 1:44.x in this session but ended up with a very smoky finish when I thought that I could really get a quick lap in after I passed the Porsches.

Always trying to learn, so in terms of root cause, too much trailbrake there, or too much throttle too early? Looks like the slide started fairly early into corner entry

Nice job keeping her in one piece

Thanks. At some point mid slide, I thought that maybe I will need a new car

Too much trail brake as I was coming in way too hot, and I was afraid of not making the corner. Probably a safer option would have been to actually plan going wide on the sand with the front wheels straightened out.

Thx... Out of curiosity, stock suspension? Were you on sticky rubber?

How bad were the flat spots on your tires?

Very minimal and just a bit on the outside. The tires were rotating most of the time through the slide.

Planning to get back up there (Laguna) in a couple weeks if they don't shut things down again

Nah, in my experience the RS's are still way faster, but most other cars the S55 can run with!

RS is way faster, but it doesn't really go into hyperspace on a straight if you happen to be behind it, unlike a 600LT.

Track: Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi, Italy.
Time: 1:59.87, using BMW M Lap Timer.
Car: 2018 M3, DCT, MDM on.
Suspension: Nitron R1 coilovers with 450/750 springs and front camber plates.
Brakes: Essex AP Racing 9660 with Hawk DTC-70 front pads, titanium shims, and 3D-printed cooling scoops. Ferodo D2500 pads and titanium shims in rear on stock calipers. Porsche front scoops on rear suspension arm and 2" CEET hose to rear rotor.
Wheels/tires: 18" BMW 513M with Yokohama A052 in stock sizes.
Aero: RW Carbon canards in front and 3D-printed vortex generators for the rear.

I had a lot of fun, even though this was the last event for this set of tires and air temperatures were ~33.0 Celcius. The track has really high grip and the first sector is a fast, downhill undulating sweeper into a nicely banked 180-degree corner.

For those of you who have noticed the absence of some of the camera angles, I've been having issues with them overheating now that it's warmer outside. I can't get the camera near the exhaust to work for more than a few minutes, and the camera for the brakes had issues this time as well. I'll keep trying.

Up next: Spa-Francorchamps in two weeks!

That's when I start using shrubs and tire marks!

+1, best track, nothing like it. You'll appreciate this after experiencing it firsthand. Off the charts skill and difficulty. Note brake points, among other incomprehensible items

.2 RS fades ahead of the GTS on every straight. Seems like just a couple car lengths every time.

High Plains Raceway
2:01 Gomeler M4GTS DCT (OEM Sport Cup 2, GC Camber plates, AP Racing brakes, Carbotech XP10)

Was just warming the tires up and cut a 2:01, which is a personal best in the car and overall at the course for me. I'm still several seconds off pace, purposely leaving a ton of time in several corners as I get familiar with the car. I think I'll max out around a 1:57 based on Melchior's times.

Very nice time...

I’m heading to PittRace in September with Chin, will be my second time there.
