Bimmerworld GT-More
Not a massive track guy (yet) but this series looks awesome and it will be super cool to see where they push the platform! I would post this in the photos/video thread but since this is mainly a track car build it would probably get more love here

You know I've seen you talk about James Clay a lot but never made the connection that he's Bimmerworld James Clay until very recently

This project will help take the F8X to the next level, and we won't need to wait until the platform is 100 years old to have a great template

We are REALLY excited for this project and bringing the F8x community a lot of real world data to go along with our choices in parts while developing the M4 "GTMore". The build has just begun, but we haven't wasted much time getting started and digging into it.

They definitely do! But their parts all come with hefty price tags (such as the US$1000 brake cooling kit)...hopefully BW can come up with more track focus improvements for this platform.

It is literally illegal to run spacers, or wheels with offsets over a certain amount over stock, or a BBK, or suspension that is height adjustable, etc etc etc. Anyhow, I am sure the Bimmerworld project will be much more feasible for normal humans. |

Looking forward to BW to show a well thought out kit with some customizations for the f8x platform and some analysis to back it up. |

I really like the energy and enthusiasm M cars get from the vendors. it makes our experience better and sometimes faster.
I am just cautions to distinguish when some updates bring a real benefit or just a "sales speech". For the engine oil, coolant, diff oil and transmission I am very skeptical to accept RedLine has a better product than OEM. Not because RedLine dont have good products ... they actually have good stuff which I have already used in a different non standard application but because it is not just that simple. Developing an oil solution is not that simple and involves a lot but a lot of resources and testing which includes running engines in a dyno, running vehicles on the road/track, temperature chambers, component tear down, wear analysis, noise analysis, ..... I really dont believe any aftermarket company would have those resources to deploy on this type of project and even if they do there isn't a business case because the revenue the products would bring is limited to car enthusiastic like us in comparison with the OEM supplier. I really dont see the benefit/problem solving a new oil/fluid can bring as advantage to this platform but in really it can be risky and expensive if something goes south. Please keep bringing improvements but at no risk! |

There is alot of R&D put into these parts. You need to understands things like where the best high pressure area is on the front of the car, the air volume and pressure you need to transmit to the backing plate, the resilience of the backing plate itself, material properties under temperature variation. And all of this has to meet strict TUV guidelines with pages of reports. I don't know about you, but I would feel more comfortable paying the money for something that's been proven under the most rigorous conditions then buy some cheap hack of a solution that would probably fail and cause catastrophic failures at excessive track speeds on your $70k F8x. |

A simple example... Vorshlag developed these brake deflectors for a few platforms. Just a little aluminum with some smart thinking and there ya go. Effective and very reasonable costs. I run these on my E46 and have noticed great improvement even in the awful Texas summer heat.
