I'm following this very closely.

With a custom track tune on 93 octane, I am getting a ton of timing being pulled and loss of power at the track. I am getting seriously tempted to get those Mitsubishi oem+ turbo upgrades, to give the power boost of a tune while keeping temperatures down. Cranking the boost up on the stock turbos puts you well outside of its optimal temperature operating range. I have a hard time spending a fortune on upgraded cooling for only 10% gain. Running the larger turbo at near stock boost levels should give the same performance but better temperature management.

Well this thread has tapered off but I assure you, the fun with the GTMore hasn't. I've had the pleasure of piloting the car at a number of events since the last update, including its most recent stint out at the SEMA show in Vegas for the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational event. So as we head towards the end of the year, and just threw up a new video yesterday, it seems appropriate to revive this thread. The latest episode hit's the GTMore exhaust which is not only an absolute screamer, but a useful screamer with proven power and torque gains - check it out.

Thanks for getting the first post updated!

As a baseline I'd back up the recommendation that Wyatt sent you a couple of weeks ago. Closer to stiff in the front and in the middle in the rear to start with as a baseline. And of course we call it a baseline as there are a lot more layers here as to track grip level, other car setup, tires, driving style, etc - but that should be a good start. Then feel free to reach out with car behaviors/what it's doing - from there we can help evaluate if a change is warranted and what that should be.

So this is 45K in parts and probably 10K more in labor, so not insignificant. Figure 100K investment. With the splitter it's definitely not very streetable. How easy is it to remove?

Seems like 80% the way to a racecar without the stripped interior and full safety cage / fire/etc?

This would be a lot more interesting with close to full steering, and a splitter that was built as two pieces so the extension could be removed and or replaced.

Also not completely familiar with VIR. I see lap times from events but what does a similar caliber driver in a 991 GT3 on DH slicks run there as a comparison?

I don't personally choose to drive something like this on the street at all, probably more due to the steering lock limits. But a lot of our customers need to drive to and from the track. I have already done quite a bit of driving on public roads at the Sandhills event in 2021, and we are doing One Lap this year with the car, so ask me after May with 3500 street miles logged.

But the point of this car is to push the limits and show what is possible with a stock production car. Bit if you don't want to deal with aero on a street car, leave it off (I don't like a wing hanging off the trunk for something I drive regularly). And if you want standard steering lock, stick with slightly narrower wheels/tires. We break the car up into segments and realize that the GTM top spec isn't the right choice for everyone - and we have lots of other options. And few will do the whole build the way we have. Pick and choose how you want to build yours.

If you want to pay more for a Porsche and more to run one, there is no doubt they are fast cars. But a lot of our customers are BMW focused and want to do it in a BMW, and maybe the BMW they already own. A GTM F82 isn't the only way to go fast - but with the range of options to build something similar they can be extremely fast if that's what you choose to build or drive.

I can see the value of that. To and from the track is mostly what I did with my M3 and is also the direction I'm headed back to after trailering a track car for the past few years. California is just too hard to own a trailer in.

My questions really are around how drivable it is, and how often you are going to be replacing the splitter and how it compares in the marketplace.

My last m3 was similar (MCS/Alcon/etc...) to this with some big missteps on the motor side, which is the reason I sold it.

The MCS dampers you sold me have definitely been put to use these last few years! They are simply incredible. Paired with the massive GTmore sways, even better than before!

I wouldn’t be driving a low car on the street with a splitter on a regular basis. You can raise the car some. And we will have full aero on the car for its One Lap journey.

If you don’t need to open a factory engine to track it, don’t. The stock reliability is hard to regain and there should be plenty of power potential (risk vs. benefit) on most BMW models with software and bolt-ons.

Next GTMore video update - We threw in the KMP Dual Mount Offset Diff Bracket. Possibly not for everyone if your car is daily driven (we have other solutions if that's you), but for a track focused F8X or for someone that doesn't mind a little additional NVH, this is THE solution that checks all the boxes - dual mount, raises the diff to restore axle geometry, built in freedom to reduce peak forces, solid mounted.
