F8x OEM winter wheels style 640M and 641M

The new M4/M3 winter wheels are staggered. Here are the specs:

- 640M (8,5x18 + 9x18) OR
- 641M (8,5x19 + 9x19)


NOTE: These images are reversed. This was an early photo from my BMW source.

The 18" are the ones we saw on the F83 mule here:

The 19" look like they might be the ones that have popped up on various mules in the past (but in black), and that people were hoping would be a standard factory wheel option. The good news is that you can get them, but the bad news is that they are narrower than stock.

It will be interesting to see which tires and in what sizes these are offered with. I don't recall BMW recommending a staggered winter setup in the past.

Those look great. Any word on offsets of whether the 19s will clear CCBs?

I think the reason they even have the 19" option is to accommodate the CCB.

Still no word on offsets for any OEM wheel.

I haven't seen anyone post the officially recommended tire brand and/or size to fit these winter wheels. Anyone have this info yet?

Yes, this would interest even me, since I will be taking this baby to the arctic place called Finland.

Canadian crew may have some ideas, please share!

I would go with the Michelin PA4.

The PA3 served us very well on both my M3 and my wife's S4. Since I will be holding on to my 270M winter wheels for the M4, I will go with PA4 245/40R18 at all four corners when the PA3 need replacing.

Thank you, useful tip that was.

Winter tires are something I have to have, even here in the sunny Seattle, when the first snow hits Canada, I'll be negotiating with the navigator about the root there. Driving in snow with a rwd is more fun than anything else you can do while wearing clothing.

Total OT, but I have to tell you anyway.

My son is almost 4, and he's now sitting next to me while I was reading this forum. He asked about the tires posted above, and I explained to him, that I will need these when the winter comes, and the boys on this forum were giving me useful tips on what to look for.

His reaction was one of shock.

"Why are boys talking about cars?"
"Well, they have the same hobby as mummy has, they also like these things"
"Do they drive cars?"
"Well, I hope so, it's no fun to have them sitting in the garage"
"They have to get married"
"Why?"
"Men can have bicycles and shoes, they need mums to drive."

I may have an issue in my hands, I have to start explaining him now, that men also are allowed to drive, even tough our family is twisted. I don't want to end up being a grandma in my forties just because he needs a ride somewhere. =D

I've got a beautiful set of 18" 219m(s) sitting in my mother-in-laws barn. As I recall they're ET 29 on the 8.5" fronts and ET 23 on the 9.5" rears.

Had those on a 2014 E63 S-AMG with 4Matic and they were great, but on my wife's 335 X-drive and the future M3, I am thinking of going with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 with the studs.

I am thinking that with those, I really don't care what winter throws our way.

I have a set of 255/35-19 Hakkapeliitta R2 coming... not studded but will get you through almost anything winter will throw at you

I had PA3's on my E92 M3 and did not like them in bad winter conditions. I found the Blizzak LM-60 to be much better in snow, slush and ice. The PA3, however, was great on cold and dry days.

Studs are good for ice (especially wet ice) but they are worse on asphalt and the road noise is terrible. I will personally never again use winter tires with studs.
