I imagine that CP owners would not be happy if their stuff can be retrofitted from BMW, it would kill their exclusivity |

I can't imagine why it would bother them....those that order the ZCP package are purely doing so due to the performance gains, not for exclusivity, right?

If the summed costs of the individual components to upgrade a base M4 to CP level tallies a number significantly higher than the $5500 cost of the CP, the CP owners should be happy they got a good deal .

BMW will not give the same upgrade components as a standalone as they never have (look at current M5/6 CP and past CP models). If they would start here, they would also have to start for M5/6 base which are closer to the end life of cycle.

But it is not impossible that they would though. For instance, anyone could go and buy a CP exhaust at BMW dealer parts counter.

BMW also never offered suspension upgrades which they are doing for the first time via the M-performance coil overs. They should and can deviate from status quo. They don't have to retroactively offer this for all M models, just what they see has the most ROI (which is the F8X platform based on sales)

Does anyone have any inside info on when the embargo for the press will be lifted? My M3 entered production today so I'm stuck with ZCP whether I like it or not but I'd love to see a few more reviews.

If you have any first hand experience of most of the other performance cars out there now (especially those that are using the Magnetic shock technology), you will know that by today's current standards BMW suspension is not on par. If your only knowledge is previous M car, then yes its better than the old M's but compared to its competition, its not very good.

I am curious, I see a lot of people stating their M3/4 is in production with ZCP package, but I thought production of ZCP equipped cars wasn't starting until March 1. I had the impression you could order now, but no ZCP optioned cars would start being built until March 1??

Just get the aftermarket coilover system of your choice and spend the $ and time dialing it, along with wider wheels/tires |

Warranty. And why do you think I'm a proponent of them based on my singular statement? I'm offering it as a counterargument that BMW might go against status quo.

After seeing it in person, the ZCP doesn't look bad. I think it's a good value for people that won't be modifying their car once they get it.
Personally I would pass on the ZCP and get a scantly optioned M4. Then spend the saved money on the M-performance HAS, BBS/Volk wheels, and an M-performance exhaust. The last thing the M4 needs is more power. |

Aftermarket tuners do it all the time - it's not ground breaking work. BMW is also about to come out with 2 more M4 variants - something else unprecedented. The reason they might not have done it for previous models is due to the market return on investment. F8X simply has more purchasers relative to the M5/M6. |

If I can achieve similar results, I'd personally rather go with my own mods of choice, such as MP HAS, BBS and AA exhaust. One is the M4 CS (Clubsport) and the other rumor is the CSL. Not sure how legit the CSL is though.
