Macht Schnell springs - test drive

Does anyone in the SF Bay Area have Macht Schnell springs on their f82 that wouldn’t mind giving me a ride so that I could see if I like the way they feel before purchasing?

Thx

I removed the Macht Schnell springs from my F82 about a month ago. I ran them for over a year. The drop was more than advertised, worse the car continued to drop after a year. Maybe I had a bad set, not sure. But the ride quality was pretty much the same as stock.

I switched over to Eibach US version. I should have used these from the beginning, but I wanted to use springs that had a similar spring rate to the comp springs. Lots of info in the suspension forum so I would search around there

Wow, I had plans to install the Macht Schnells with spacers recently. Do you know if it was an install issue? How much lower did the car get after driving on them for a while? Was being lower such a bad thing? How was the ride? Not bouncy, right?

Any info would greatly be appreciated!

It was not an install issue, they just started sagging after a year. It's personal preference, I wanted about an inch drop in the front. It dropped enough that one day I walked out and thought why does my car look lower. Took some measurements and it was in fact lower. I don't have the numbers in-front of me. At first the ride was very comparable to stock just lower. I think the ride quality degraded as they started to sag. I really like the Eibach springs I installed, ride quality is great. I would look into installing Eibach US version.

Do you have any pictures of the f82 with the Macht Schnells at its lowest?

Did you start with the competition package on the f82?

More info would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have pictures, but imagine no wheel gap in front and rear. Yes, Comp Pack F82.

Was the front of the car scraping on dips? Did you have the cf front lip installed?

I would scrap the under cover fins on dips or pulling out into roads. I was going at an angle and going slow. If I had a front lip that would scrap for sure. The springs are pretty easy to swap out so you could try the Macht Schnell and if they don't work out switch to something else. good luck with your decision

Do you have any pictures of your car with the eibach us on your f82? Is it an even drop in the front and rear?
How is ride quality compared to stock and compared to the MS?

I don't have any pics with the settle setup. The numbers are 626mm in the front and 628mm in the rear, bottom of the rim to the top of the fender.

They are progressive springs so the ride quality is better, less harsh. Then when you drive more aggressively they keep the car flat, very happy with Eibach. Eibach's business is suspension so they know what they're doing and it shows.

So the rear sits lower? Am I reading this correctly? I always thought the car had a more aggressive stance with the front slightly lower.

The front is lower, I found a pic and can post on my instagram account

It's not fully settled but should give you an idea. Fully settled is a few mm lower.

I’m okay with the Macht Schnells being lower… I just want to be sure the suspension didn’t get bouncy over time. That just cheapens the feel of the car.

Beautiful car all around! Frankly, the car looked great on both spring setups.

Didn’t realize the 666 wheels come in black… did you paint them or is that stock?

Thanks! That was an individual option, not sure the exact details since I bought the car second hand. I assume since it was painted with an individual color, getting black rims was then an option. On the window sticker I think it was labeled as additional option or something like that.

My biggest fear about the Macht Schnells after reading this thread is that looking at your Instagram picture, it looks like the back may appear to sit a little lower than the front... could have just been the photo angle. Not my cup of tea… I’d like it even or slightly lower in the front.
And second - you mentioned ride degradation after the springs fully settled. Does that mean you felt more of the road? Wasn’t handling as well?

Anyone with either the above Eibachs or Macht Schnells able to give me a glance at their car in person and a quick ride around to see how they feel?

Struggling to make a decision, and I think that would help a lot!

I’m in Redwood City, CA and can come to you.
