Another question - I'm getting pre-LCI LEDs installed on my '16 F80 with Xenons. I'm using this retrofit harness from eBay.

The shop performed the physical installation and wiring, but the lights are not responding at all, even after coding.

Can anyone chime in with some advice? Thanks in advance.

Did you get the modules as well?
In for updates because I’m on the fence on this mod.

Saw your eBay link. Same seller I was going to use. How hard was the wiring to do?

Yeah, the lights includes all the modules. The harness seller is super knowledgeable and includes clear instructions. That being said, the overall installation is beyond my scope of comfort and it's at a shop right now. It involves running wires from the rear fuse box through the firewall, removing/replacing/aligning the front bumper, and coding.

retrofit LCI LED

On eBay.de you can find now a complete set of LCI headlights plus modules for 2500 euro.

I had pre-LCI adaptieve LED (2014) and bought a complete set from jan 2018 F32 and retrofitted the LCI LED adaptive headlights without removing the front bumper completely. Plug 'n play and Alex did the coding.
No cutting or splicing of the factory harness. The fitment between the harness and new headlights are very tight so I cut (2) zip-tie type fasteners (1 on each side) to give some slack to the factory harness. Once adjusted you can resecure using the same mounting point.

Xenon -> LCI LED you need a retrofit harnes or 2 new wires. You will have to run 2 new wires from the fuse box to the headlights. You can order a harness supplied by @Marius76 that added the 2 necessary wires.

Is there a fuse you have to tap in the rear fusebox?

Hey, if I have pre-LCI LED headlights, do I need to switch out modules for the LCI headlights as well?

Yes, you have to buy the modules also (3 for each side) and they are not cheap.

Sorry, i haven't done the conversion xenon to LCI LED.
I would sent a email to retrofittings.de or bimmertech.net

And if they are not working OK, then check ISTA wiring diagram again and see if there is any differences . Also if there you will find already pins inside the connectors of FEM where document say to attach new ones, just attach new ones over existing ones.
If I can help you more .... I will do it with pleasure, but first start doing it and we will see.
Hi Larry,

Just wanted to let you know that I've completed my retrofit from halogen to adaptive led, some weeks ago;
But finally, since I had other retrofits to be done at the same time (led fogs, Msport brakes and reverse camera), I gave the work to a local bmw retrofit specialist, after buying myself all the parts.

All works perfectly, there's just a little detail to be addressed later:
My used headlights came complete with modules, but one control unit was original, while the other was not... the original one didn't work (I had to get another one), and the non original worked. But...

I later noticed a difference in behavior when I unlock the car - daylights come on, both low beams should come on, adjust and turn off... except that in my case, only one of them do that.
After that, with ignition on, power on, or while driving, they behave well and the same.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the non original control module, but I need to go back to the installer and get it diagnosed and troubleshooted, when I get the time (it's 100 km away).

Nothing too serious and purely cosmetic (for 5 seconds)!
Thanks for your help!

and I used marius76 for the remote coding part. for my 2018 it was plug and play + coding... for xenon i believe there is another step involved.

Marius did my coding as well 👍🏼 Awesome guy with tons of experience. On Xenon-equipped cars, a custom wiring harness is required (which is somewhat labor intensive).

Haha. I ran into all kinds of issues and Marius not only bailed me out, but was also super patient as I kept running into software issues using Fusion on my Mac. Such a great forum and community member!

I imagine it's similar to this F10 installation:

https://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1491367

The time required was enough to convince me to drop it off at a shop that already performed a retrofit.
