Blackline Tail Lights - Coding?

At this rate, people will think these came standard on MG F80s haha. I was never a fan with BMW's decision to use all red housings so this fixes that and it's an OEM option which really makes it the only option . no brainier at these prices from Schiedemann

I must be in the minority but I think I actually like the red housings better on darker cars. Lighter/Brighter colors look better with the Blackline tails for sure.

Randomly found what I think it is in the manual. Look under brake force display. Looks like that's what they are for.

I feel these lights work particularly well if you have CF roof, CF spoiler, black or CF exhaust tips, and CF diffuser. It just works really if you have the dark/black trim theme going on already. If you're sporting the chrome bits then this clashes and I would not recommend.

I like it on darker car. My only issue is - I now see same type light (clear with read line) on tons of other cars - hondas, lexuses, hyundais, etc.

G80 is like that now. Besides those other lights don't have the same shape and design that these do.

Actually this seems to be a pretty rare mod. It has received some attention on bimmerpost, but I never see them in the wild, and I see M3s regularly here in LA. It’s one of the things I like about them.

I agree! I actually like that hardly anyone has them. Just makes it that much cooler. If they weren't OEM I would not even consider them but since they are OEM, the quality is top notch and visually they look modern and similar to the next gen 3 series lights, I feel they're a really nice upgrade. It's the last piece to complete the full MPerformance OEM+ look IMO.

But you're right, I didn't see anyone with them at Bimmerfest this year. I wish they had arrived in time but oh well.

If you guys haven't already, code your tail lights to be daytime running lights as well. I've had mine this way since my first F80. It just makes the lights pop and even more so with the blacklines since the housing isn't red.

I used the cheat sheets in the coding session once and got everything I wanted coded so I don't recall what the specific codes are to do it. Sorry!

The daytime running tailights are just the red led bars lit up similar to how the angel eyes are lit up during the day. It lights up the housing to be red while the blinker stays orange. Gives it a nice contrast look.

Can you have another pic when your car is switched off? I am thinking to add this mod to the list of mods coming up this summer to my 435i gc
