Windshield Tint and Radar Detector mounting
Friends,
Anyone have experience mounting their radar detector to a tinted windshield with the mount provided? I would normally mount the detector through a blendmount off my rear view mirror but I have a dash cam mounted off it already. I'm concerned the suction mount won't hold due to the tint. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I have had no significant issues with either my former 9500ix mount nor my current Uniden R3 mount due to the windshield tint (Spectra Photsync). They hold to the tint fine.
That doesn't mean the suction cups never fail. I will occasionally find the detector hanging by the cord, which I wrap around the mirror, but it is rare and also happened before I got the windshield tinted and in previous cars with no windshield tint. Same for my SunPass toll payment transponder.
