that answer would largely depend on the mileage and condition of your current rotors and the type of track abuse it has gotten, if any.

Just to be safe you should check that to see if it's worth replacing your rotors too. |

If you need to replace rotors, it's because you need to replace them regardless of pads. |

Update on the Akebonos: these pads kick ass. Good linear stopping power and after three weeks, my black wheels are still clean. It's amazing.
I'm going to swap all my cars out for Akebonos going forward.

I swear on me mum that Ferodo DS1.11 create less brake dust than OEM pads. Not that I care about brake dust, but thought I'd share my observation.

Just put on Akebonos and will have to concur with everyone that these are excellent pads! Followed the directs to grease the abutment points and piston faces and not a peep of squeal from them. Very low dusting. I think most of the dusting is from the iron rust that forms on the rotors after a wash (its orange dust). Otherwise, yes, the initial bite is less, I would say 50% less grabby on initial pedal push, but that's actually a good thing. Usually it grabbed a bit too much especially if you're doing a slow roll. I also did ECS SS lines and changed to Motul RBF600 at the same time. Pedal feels great (if not the same as stock) so there is that haha. Overall stopping power is the same IMO.

The minimum rotor thickness is as follows: Front: 28.4mm (not 34.4?) Rear: 22.4mm I'm at 28.9 for the front and 23mm for the rear. Sounds like I'm gonna need to get new rotors. Should I use new OEM rotors with the Akebonos or would you guys recommend anything else? This car will not be tracked, it's a pure (fast) street driving car. |

It takes a long time to wear a half mil if only basic or spirited daily driving. Stock rotor pair for $508 at getbmwparts is a good price.
