Carplay issue, need some help.

My carplay has been working flawlessly up until recently. I'm not sure if an iOS update changed something but I am currently on the latest iOS 13.5.1

My issue is that my carplay (especially waze and google maps) has been freezing or has been extremely laggy. However, I found out if my phone is unlocked and screen is on, carplay runs smoothly. The second i turn off the phone screen, carplay freezes and is extremely laggy again.

Does anyone else have this issue? If so, any way to fix it? Also to note, i do have the fullscreen hack if it makes any difference. But i've had the fullscreen working smoothly without issues until recently with this problem.

I have not loaded iOS 13.5.1, just checked and now I am reluctant to update.
OP, when was the last time your car was at a dealer for service or software update?

I last took it to the dealer for software update on Aug 2019. Had no issues until recently. I'm not sure if I had this issue before the iOS update to be honest.

Are you using an Apple watch in the car as well? We've had a few customers who had similar issues and unpairing the Apple watch seems to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the response. I do not have an Apple watch and never owned one. It just really started happening out of no where. I tried resetting the idrive and my iphone but problem still occurs.

I also don't believe it's the iOS as my wife upgraded to the same version and her 2018 X1 carplay runs fine without issues. Just strange it just happened all of a sudden on my F80.

So I've managed to completely delete the phone and add it again. That actually fixed it....for about 15-20 minutes. Now it's freezing again every time I turn the phone screen off. Is nobody else having this issue with their carplay?
