I am with you ... I know about an car in Frozen Dark Blue II without cammo, but with all exterior gimmicks from the M4 CS and clearly an M3 CS Batch on the trunk.
If you speaks about an different color, then this must mean that there are allready two Cars !?

A little staged ::

Yes just a tad, no different to any other release/leak from BMW or any other manufacturer though. Just all part of the release cycle now.

Sadly, I think you're right. But your timeline is a little bit aggressive.

G8x is supposed to still have a manual available. First year is supposed to be MY22. Going through 6 year production run, that's good until MY27.

You are right. Those are 2 different times that the car visited the gas station. Here's why:
1, The drivers are different or wearing different shirts,
2, The point where the indicator (blinkers) are switched on are different between the video and pictures,
3, There is no photographer in the video where there should have been in order to snap the photos we see.

Not sure if it was staged or if the car consumes too much petrol (gas) or if the first visit was with minimal fuel to set the official best lap time with the lightest weight .

Can someone tell me why this thread exists? The F80 is going out of production in the coming year (2018)

Is BMW really gonna put out a "special" model for one calendar year?

I get why the F82 CS is gonna exist. The EOP is 2020.

This is a pipe dream thread

So you are speculating that these test mules represent mere R&D exercises? That's fair, but if that's your opinion, why not just say that instead?

I don’t see it as that big of a stretch to be honest - BMW made like 27 special editions of the E9X M cars towards the end of production. BMW will also be able to leverage lessons learned during the M4 CS’ development - so the M3 CS should be “easier” to develop if that makes sense (especially for things like suspension tweaks, software revisions, and engine tune).

I see this an an exercise consistent with a precedent they established before. It will be fun to see if it comes to fruition or not.

Actually it is the exact reason why they want to release this one last version before EOP. Squeeze out the last cents they can get from customers. Their primarily targets should be those who are looking to switch rides within the M family instead of prying from the competitors. There are a lot of them out there.

Labeling it CRT would be more likely than CS for the sedan, but how they are going to price it will be crucial since they have so many packages and versions now for the F8x. Base, ZCP, CS, CRT, GTS. All are within 70-120k.

Have you noticed that none of the G20s we've seen had MT? I'm not claiming we shouldn't expect any MTs yet, but I feel like with just a little bit more evidence I could make that call.

Good point.

Still, the take rate for the manual M3/M4 (especially F80) is still pretty high in the US according to the post SickFinga linked to. I wonder what it is for the 330i and 340i? Another possibly relevant observation is, the 5 Series MT died a generation (or maybe even two? I don't know what was available overseas by the end of the E60 run) before the M5 MT did.

I also notice that they still allow you to get an MT with xDrive in the 340i today. That suggests that even if the M3/M4 go AWD (which I am not at all convinced of, yet), the MT could theoretically remain on the table. I agree with SickFinga that the move to AWD would definitely make the whole thing less likely though, simply because its even more permutations to deal with on top of an already more complex drivetrain.

Hella Bucks.

I don't remember, but I want to say it was GTS money IIRC. It wasn't sold in the US (neither was the GTS) and was made in tiny numbers, so it wasn't something I committed to memory.

Idk but I'm guessing it's gonna be a special limited edition and not a regular production as the M4CS

Yes. It's too late in the "life cycle" for this edition to be released. You don't agree?
