Anyone know of any shops in Phoenix that might be able to do a CBC? if it's cheap enough I might just pay someone to do it rather than doing it myself.

Don’t call partsscore as they will shame you into a “full solution”

I like those guys, a lot, but we don’t always see eye to eye (I don’t have BBS, full solution, KW $6,000 setup etc)

I’m not sure if any of the other shops will do it as I didn’t inquire. I got my CBC last week and will be doing it myself.

Thanks for the info! If I can get it done by a reputable for less than $500, which seems doable based on this thread, it would be worth it to me. If not, I don't mind doing it myself. I generally do all of my own work on my cars but am getting to the age of "what's my time worth?" lol

AZ Bimmermotorwerks.

Talk to Nick, tell him I sent you. They have two locations, Nick is at the Scottsdale one, pretty close to where I live. Great dude. I prefer to work on my own cars but when I don't... I go to Nick. (remember I'm remote or I'd just use the VTT shop... but it's a hike!)

You and me both. I refuse to hang out on my garage floor and pay for it later. My time has increased in worth, but not enough to not know the people wrenching on my car.

The dealer told you that? Do you have to pay out of pocket for it?

Spun mine as well yesterday.

From What I heard at the dealer, our cars may be at the same dealer location.

Mine happened within 24hr of flashing with bm3 stage1 93oct. Otherwise bone stock 2018 zcp mpe. I’ve owned the car for about a month. Loved it.

Dealer detected tune, despite flashing back to stock, locking dme etc. Repair will be our of pocket. Will know the approximate $ tomorrow. Car in limp mode, and hopefully without additional damage. They plan to replace hub and re-time engine.

I’m considering doing it somewhere else with a permanent solution in place. Is there a place that will do the repair/timing and upgrade hub? Does Keis do repair or only upgrade on unspun cars?

Thanks. Difficult couple days

Sorry bro. Very sorry.
If the dealer was going to install a hub go to Kies and get the 4-pin and CBC installed. Email Kies to get on the schedule and buy the hub. VTT sells the CBC.

Thanks Chris. I'll reach out to them as well. Question for you that you may or may not know the answer to. I understand that the CBC is not a full solution. However, is there any evidence that IF a hub is going to spin with the CBC on the car, it is less likely to spin enough to cause interference? Since the bolt can't back out does it "re-catch" the friction and lock the hub/crank back together before spinning the bolt out and causing catastrophic damage like spinning a hub without the CBC seems to do? Does that question make sense? Thanks.

stage 2 hex tune , full bolt ons ... no crank hub fix , nothing....93,000 trouble free miles....almost all crank hub failures seem to be related to bm3....never for me....no etunes either , strictly 93 octane or 100 octane....no sending it! burnouts for stupid ass people to video...no doughnuts....no crank hub issues.....MESSAGE

Write to Matt at AutoCouture in Fairlawn, NJ. They replaced my motor in September, and upgraded my hub after I spun mine with a JB4 (map 2, 93 octane) and down pipes. Had contact and damage in cylinder 6. 2020 has not been kind to my car.

So TLDR:
If you tune, you're getting a spun crank hub. May happen in a day, a month, or shortly there after - but you're playing with fire.

That's what I gather from these threads.

I understand the question, but it's not something we can put a hard answer to. I can answer anecdotally, that of the crank hub spins I've seen, the majority of them got by with a re-time. The number of CBC only slipped hubs I've seen is much less, but of that smaller subset all of them were able to get by with just a re-time and proper hub install. No way of knowing if that's just raw data or more of a trend, just sharing what I've observed. I would not jump to a conclusion on that data, not trying to fearmonger, just don't want someone on the fence thinking "eh Chris said CBC only slips would just be a re-time". Can't say that. Just the few CBC only slips I've seen thus far were able to be saved simply.

Chris
