Angel Eyes DRL with Standard Xenons same as LED's?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Are the DRL Angel Eyes on the standard xenons the same as the LED DRL Angel Eyes on the upgraded lighting package?

Saw some indirect references to this in a but not a definitive answer.

No... Its all subjective, but IMO the full LED DRL look much better. $1900 better? Probably not... but then again, do I really need an $80k car?

I realized all the DRL's I've seen are the upgraded lighting package. I do thinnk they look pretty darn good. MAYBE $1900 good

Are the DRL's with the Xenons LED's? Or are they the yellowish glow? (which I think looks pretty cool too)

Anyone happen to have some comparo pics?

I believe the angel eyes have the same colour and same shape. If only lighting package includes led taillights...not that it gives you any kind of advantage but looks better imo

Need to find a side by side view as I saw an LED M4 and it looked great... really great.

It looks like there's not too much difference in the angel eyes. The LED's look much nicer and very modern overall; not sure of the $1900 price tag though; maybe if it was LED all around.....damn you BMW!!! I chose to go with it anyway......

DRL in the Lighting package has more uniform dispersion of Light in the element. The difference is not readily noticeable unless you are obsessively staring at your headlamp, and the DRL should not be the reason you should choose one over the other.

The LED Lighting Package has a sharper cut off than the xenons, the "white" light out put is "whiter" and the color does not shift like xenon. Plus the Indicators are also LED - which means the markers are clear when the unit is off.

If you read the FAQ sticky thread in the F8x General forum, you would have found a link to this side-by-side comparison. And no, they are not the same.

Consider people pay $1700 for a carbon lip, 4k for wheels, and 6k for Akro Exhaust. 1800 for something that is actually is functional is not bad.

That is so true. I am not much in to mods, so I guess options and packages are my mods.

A good point but I would bet I would've liked the standards more.

I drive mainly at night, and the adaptive feature is too sensitive for me. Mainly I end up driving in the dark while using them, and the direction of light seems to be everywhere so high beams have to be put off really early. And with the car doing the job, high beams are never on.

Bs feature for me. I'll try them again after coding but for now I'm choosing to do the heavy work myself.

This video is not related to US version. In the US the adaptive high beam will be turned off by sensing the traffic (at night time). By US law (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)) it's not permitted for safety reasons.

However you can do coding to add this feature.
