OEM steering wheel cleaning / restoration

I am looking for tips on what process and/or products to use for restoring that factory fresh matte look and texture to my 2018 F80 OEM steering wheel. The car has 41k miles and the wheel is starting to get that shiny and slippery texture, so I'm hoping there is a DIY way to get it back to that factory condition. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Assuming it's just hand grease/shine (but the leather is otherwise intact), then Leatherique is the magic you seek. If you use it correctly, the results can be miraculous. For really bad surfaces, letting the oil really soak in (in direct heat/sun if possible) for maybe even 2 days will be needed, and possibly multiple rounds of application.

This video is gold-standard for how to use it properly (on a seat, but same idea). Do exactly what he does, don't shortcut anything. I'd suggest masking off the other parts of wheel with painter's tape first.

Watched the video and ordered a kit immediately. My 10 year old mk7 GTI needs it even worse. Can’t wait to give this a try!
