Each to their own though!
My rs3 was harsh on the staggered 30 series front wheels, it was inverse of my m3, tolerable on street but in hills the dampening fell apart on a bumpy B road at speed. My f80 on tractive suspension is about as good as a mcpherson strut front end will get, but in inner city no dampener can mask a 30 series sidewall plus all that adhoc chassis rigidity

You can buy suv's with sports sedan like seating positions

F pace svr is prob best in this respect, the high waistline and centre console makes you sink into the belt line, the seat itself goes low too. Apart from the view out you'd think you're in an xe

I'd buy one if I didn't already have that drivetrain in my f type

What I'm waiting for is a 2020 trackhawk, that hellcat motor is a laugh, full of theatre to make the daily drive entertaining. You wouldn't ever track or hill run it but it's got a proper set of external reservoir bilsteins and double wishbones so it doesn't feel wallowy in corners

To pull off an suv as a daily, you need to pair it with a sports car as well

edit! seems my dream of a 2020 trackhawk will be a dice roll given how bad fca are doing in aus (and even worldwide) - other options for f80 replacement won't be available til well into 2020, if not 2021

contemplating those cs wheels now in the 19/20 spec to tie me over

my thoughts are selling a used set of oe cs wheels would be far easier than some custom offset hre's when it's time to part car out

what's the going rate for a set via local dealer wheels only

Funny thing is I'm looking at the exact same thing... was wondering what the going dealer rate for CS wheels is... with ps4s'

And what's the going rate for a used but pristine set of shadow 666s' with PSS'... to sell... lol

Yep I can't justify that

Cheaper to source o/s

These are even cheaper 4-5k shipped with all our taxes and duties, and better offsets too, I've been advised they are amending barrel design on the 19" to fit front ccb

I'd only need 265/35/19 fronts, 850 max for ps4s

I can re-use my rear 285/30/20 ps4s

But I agree it's still a lot of money for arguably little gain, especially if you're at end of ownership

I don't get all the hype around Cup2's in the rain. I've been running Cup2's for 15,000KM on my CS and I would say they're fine in the rain. Perhaps if you track them and the heat cycles cause hardening of the rubber, then they may become slippery. For street driving however, i've found they're perfectly fine, even when doing 110 on the highway in heavy rain they didn't just slip out for me at all.

Garage List
I'm just back from Targa High Country where it was snowing and very wet around the mountain on the stages.

I ran Cup 2 N1s and the difference between the wet/damp conditions and the dryer conditions was night and day.

In the wet I'd say I had to work hard to keep up with cars with all weather tires like 4S or CSC6 but that was on very winding roads. I think for those conditions tyres like the 4s are a little faster than the Cup 2s and feel much more stable.

From my experience, the Cup 2s are not bad in the wet, they are just not confidence inspiring like they are in the dry and to drive them fast in the wet on winding roads you need to warm them up a little and be very good at driving at the limit as you can feel them wriggling around on the damp or wet roads, but hit some dry patches and you can leap ahead.

I agree on the straights in the wet at speed there is really no difference in the rain and you would need a lot of standing water to make them aquaplane but in those conditions you would probably slow down anyway.

Interestingly, at Targa most of the competition cars were still running R compound tires despite the bad weather, although half a dozen or so did slide off in the corners!

IMO its worth having the Cup 2s for our climate if you are into spirited drives near the limit or even fast take offs. If it rains they are still ok but you just can't go throwing the car around like you do in the dry.

The Batman,
There is nothing wrong with my car.
It’s not flogged day in day out.
Unlike every C63 in Oz.
Please don’t say my car has issues...
I’m listing it for sale soon, so I can jump on a new M3.

For what it's worth. Interesting thread. I recently came outta the A45 to join the dark side of M cars and after going back and forth with C63S or M3 Comp for months! i bit the bullet and chose the M3 Comp. Here's my 2 cent - I think the 63 is a very capable car and i drove it around for 3-4 days whilst my A45 was getting fixed at the dealership. It's well equip (i do miss the recaros) but it just does everything almost "too well" and too "automated" that i didn't felt like i was doing anything. It does sound great and goes well in a straight line. I chose the M3 in the end for couple of reasons, mostly because i missed the thrill of "driving" and the M3 i felt like did a much better job in comparison. Yes, interior and exterior wise u do get less "stuff" but i do also miss the researching and modifying into my own, where as with the Merc i felt like there just really isn't much aftermarket support in comparison. Lets not forget the fuel consumption, i much prefer the inline 6 TT as opposed to the v8 TT (yes sound better) as the 3-4 days i had it i was at the petrol station about twice. As a daily, i think the Merc will do a much better job and ride alot better but whatever, i do enjoy the race car feeling... just my 2 cent

The Merc's more a luxury car and the M3/M4 is a full blown rev head's car with minimal luxury. My first impression driving an M4, was someone buying one for prestige wouldn't like the rawness of it. The only barrier preventing more rev heads buying an M3/M4 is the price, but the car ticks every box!
