Me as well. I added the lighting package but honestly did not want the features of the driver's assist package. Hmm... I was planning to code my car but looking like that is pointless huh...

You actually just need the auto high beam assistant. These features also work with the xenons, but not as effectively as the LEDs IMHO. I coded the same features in my 2012 F30 335i (xenons) and I can confirm this still works.

You can check your order for your car. You will see two "features" on there; 5AP and 8S4. 5AP is the decoding BMW applies to US spec cars to remove the anti-dazzle features, 8S4 is the decoding applied to remove the variable light distribution.

These are what you remove via coding to get the features you can see in the videos below.

Adaptive is set as off in the USA.

Right now all you have is auto high beams which means ur car detects another car and turns off ur high beams.

So the settings right now for us spec cars are high beams on and off only. If u code the euro adaptive, ur LEDs become adaptive to ur surroundings instead of just high and low beams

Does that make sense?

Guys, there are entire threads on coding in the DIY section. This one should clear up a lot of the questions floating around in this thread.

Coding F80: What worked and what didn't for me http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1040273

This thread to me puts the LED vs Xenon argument to bed. 1900 well worth the dough for new technology.

So the LEDs stay on all the time and only the high beams are adaptive? And, if coded the LEDs become adaptive too, meaning they detect other cars on the road as shown in the video? Not sure i understand it right :

Thanks for clearing that up because added LEDs but not drivers assist and want to get coded for euro spec...

just saw a couple different folks mention the drivers assist necessary in this thread and thought as per my usual I messed up.

My local coder is pretty good at this. Can someone post the cheat sheet to having the adaptive headlight coded. Ty

I mis-spoke in my previous post about the xenons. Although this can be coded to work on the F30, it is due to the the availability of the automatic high beam option with the xenons on the F30.

On the F8x, you need the LED lighting package to get the auto high beam switch, that enables all these features once coded.

In the standard U.S. form, the automatic high beams detect the environmental brightness and other cars and will switch on your high beams automatically when dark enough and switch them off when a car is detected in front of you. They will also adapt by swiveling with turns of the steering wheel.

In order to get the advanced anti-dazzle and variable light distribution features, as seen in the videos on here, you need to have US spec cars coded as per the thread below.

Hopefully that clears things up!

not sure what you mean by leds stay on all the time. since the entire headlight assembly is LED, by definition, at nite the leds are on.

Let me try to explain it this way:

you have the LED lighting package.

Your adaptive leds are coded off by default in USA. Thus only the auto high beam assistant works- which means the camera mounted beneath your rear view mirror looks for incoming headlights or taillights and toggles your LED high beams on/off depending on this. There is no headlights moving or swiveling to avoid incoming lights or taillights. There is only high beam or low beam LED lights. Your Headlights will swivel when you turn the vehicle, just not adapt to the incoming headlights or taillights.

You go and code your adapative LEDS ON. Now when you turn on your headlights and turn on the switch for adaptive high beams/high beam assistant, your Left/Right LED headlights auto swivel and adjust depending on road conditions- just like the video.

You will then see your headlights fluctuate and adapt to the road. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes.
Thank you I'll try this out!!

Had the opportunity to utilize them tonight as well. Wow, definitely a must do in terms of US coding with LED headlamps. Anyone in Michigan, I'd be happy to help you with it.
