I have the MP 2 type wheel and it's great.. love the feel of it and it's contoured and thick.
Installed myself.. took me about 1hr all up to transfer all parts from OE wheel to this one. |

It looks and feels great - I have the type 2 (Leather and Alcantara mix).
But keeping it clean is a hassle. Mine's coming on 5 years now and it matts down every month and I have to give it a proper scrub to get it nice and furry again. It's either that or drive with gloves which makes me look like a complete tool. |

Did you reuse the stock trim piece below the airbag? I wouldn’t think it would work with the flat bottom reduced diameter.

Yep stock trim actually fits perfectly. It looks like it doesn't but it does. |

The electronic one is much better than the plain one, it doesn't look obtrusive, if you maintain the alcantara with Sonax every few months it will stay looking and feeling new, I would not install the electronic one unless you are comfortable tapping wires around the FEM, and I would recommend having the wire tap connections soldered as I and others have had intermittent issues when just using wire taps

A bit of a thread resurrection here but I'm interested in purchasing an M Performance steering wheel. Non-negotiable is that it must have paddles and be a complete wheel with airbag, buttons and trim.
I'm located in Perth. |

I had the Electronic version on my 30 Jahre M3.
Pro’s 1. Such a talking point. Every single person that saw it was mentioning how it looked like a 2000’s F1 wheel with the Rev LEDs. 2. You can get coolant temp on the steering wheel display which you can’t normally see (at least that’s what I’m led to believe) 3. You can adjust the flashing red LEDs to indicate shift at your chosen RPM Cons: 1. Gimmicky as you get the same revs display on the M HUD with Revs and shift point. 2. Cost ($1400 for wheel and $400 fitting and coding). 3. The Alcantara wheel induced more sweat from my palms than leather but that’s probs just me :-) Now I have a F83 M4 Competition and wouldn’t fit one again. |

Love my Alcantara wheel, and it all looks so much better with the matching carbon trim.
