Time will tell if the CS becomes a valuable collectible car. I'm thinking at least 15-20 years.

Their Price is a little deceiving, it includes the 4250 (3500 lease and 750 loyalty) credit and also does not include destination charge 995 (which is really part of MSRP and also comes with a 0.00228 MF

In short term, 3 years, my guess is that they will not go for the residual that BMW is setting; 61K for a 3 year old car with 30k miles at a time when the new model might be around 70

Assuming you buy the CS at $100k and you could get a conservative 5% on your return, the value of the car would have to increase to over $250k in 20 years in order for it to be worth it. I don't think that's going to happen.

$250k in 20 years is equivalent to about $160k in today's dollars when you adjust for inflation so this scenario looks even more bleak.

My issue with the CS and other similar models ever gaining value is that they're not different enough from a standard M3/4 etc where you have tens of thousands on the market. In 20 years, is anyone really going to care about a 2019 CS vs. 2018 M3? Probably not enough to pay a major premium for it. Same with the point about cars sitting "implies that they are too much for the general public to enjoy". No not really, just that they're priced too aggressively for the current market and alternative options for the general public to say "I want that $100k CS vs. the $70k M3". Further, it's hard to say "I want that $100k CS vs the CPO $125k GT3". My last point, then I'll end my rant, is that these cars will never gain enough value to make them worthwhile. Even a 1990 E30 M3 selling for $60k today is actually really worth about $30k of your original 1990 dollars when you adjust for inflation. What did they sticker for? Around $30k no? So that means you basically broke even on the car 30 years later, which is fantastic, but not something I'd consider to be any sort of investment or great asset. Bottom line, buy the cars you want to drive. If you're stuck on worrying about depreciation/appreciation you should probably just move on.

I'm not sure this is a fair comparison . . you are looking at a car as a form of investment which is not the norm and might only apply to very very few limited cars out there. None from the current BMW lineup.

Come on guys, the CS are not "collectibles", they are meant to be driven and enjoyed .

I’d be surprised if they’re going for anything more than $70k in 3 years. Nothing special about the CS. They aren’t selling for a reason.

Dude, there is a whole thread. CS Deals Steals... Who knows what you will be able to do tomorrow, but people were getting huge discounts. Will have to see if BMW kills the lease support for 2018s |

I see a cs sitting at the 60k-70k mark until the m4gts goes up in value which could be a couple years then it will level out around msrp. At the end of the day just drive the car.

It's always the people that don't own one or haven't driven one that makes these assumptions. I've had every single F80 and the CS is way better than the others.

And yes, I drove both... F80 and F82 CS and had a lease offer on a CS which was lower than my current ZCP!
