I don't know enough about these engines to know if it's worth it. I personally haven't seen anyone worry about heat enough to do it. |

Ceramic coating mostly helps combat underhood temps. Is it worth it? I think so, just make sure you've done all the other basic mods first.

For the people confused - it's a different type of ceramic coating, it's for heat resistance.

Back in my big turbo Audi A4 days guys were seeing huge underhood temp decreases with ceramic coating on downpipes and turbos.
I say go for it and have your downpipes coated as well. |

If it’s an option when ordering, go for it. It will help with temps and also exhaust flow.

Most of the ceramic coatings on the market only prevent corrosion and do little to insulate exhaust temps. I coated mine, but only because I wrapped them with TI wrap and I dont want corrosion to build up over time

I've tracked my car in 100F weather giving it 100% all day.
F8X cooling systems are incredible (except for brakes --- mainly because there is no cooling). I never even open my hood to let the car cool off. The temps are always in the same range on Sport +/Sport whether I'm highway driving or running time attack in July. I can't imagine this would be worth doing in anyway but maybe I'm missing something. |

If I was putting in new turbos I would get the hot side and headers done. From personal experience this helped significantly with heat management on other cars that were converted from NA to boosted.
In saying this though if you are keeping stock frame turbo sizing and not changing the layout the car is already designed to sustain the heat so may not have a dramatic impact etc some will say it spools faster but cannot comment on this.

I ordered the turbo's with ceramic coating.
I have open BMS cone filters and my concern was ensuring IAT's stay as low as possible. Interestingly, my mate ordered without ceramic coating. Perhaps we could run the same OTS BM3 map and run some logs under the same ambient conditions... |

Did not install turbo's yet.... I needed my car to go in to BMW for its 1st service which was wrapped up 2 weeks ago.
Since then Crank hub upgrade was completed along with some cooling mods. Working on fueling at the moment and then turbo's will go in. |

Stock internals - Going to keep power below 700 hp and torque will also be capped.
Fueling - Starting off with charge pipe/J pipe meth injection controlled with Torqbyte. "Hope you built the bottom end" sounds like you have experience to share? |

I really believe 700 is the threshold for reliability when tracking or racing pretty often. Excited to follow your build. Please post pics during install!
