I think I’m buying another f82 m4

After test driving the new m2 and m4 I think the f series has better steering feel which is crazy. Any of you guys notice this? I’m thinking I’ll do crank hub , flex fuel and e tune and be happy until I have enough money for a 911.

Great choice. The g8x may be better in all quantitative categories but it’s not the car for me. Between the EPS, ZF8AT, giant single dash-center console screen, EPB and styling design/details make you feel disco from the car. I’ll take a hard pass. I’m not happy with it because I’ve owned every version of M3/4 since the e36 M3. You’ll love your new f8x!

Yeah bro. Thx. I had an f82 m4 for 3 years. Yas marina dct stage 2 costumed tuned. I felt like I should now get the latest greatest. But after test driving g87 , g80, g82 I was underwhelmed. So I’m most likely getting a black sapphire 2016 with mc2w coilovers from original owner. It should be fun. I’ll have more money for mods.

When I drove the g80 in 6MT it was better than the F80 in every way. More comfortable, faster, handled better... And I still like the F80 much better and passed on a G80 - and got the 2018 M3.

Nice! I’m running MCS 2WR dampers on my car.

Weird. That’s exactly how I felt when I drove an E92 M3. I instantly purchased it.

Yes, the F8x is overrall better in terms of design language and technology and power.

But against a hydraulic steering and NA V8, nothing beats it. I drive my E92 M3 way more often than my F82 M4. I just feel more connected with the S65 platform and feel the harshness and rawness more which I am drawn towards. By the way, both are manual. E92 M3 is high mileage (120k+ miles). Rod bearings and valve cover, no leaks and reliable as hell.

I have driven G80 and G82 at BMW Performance school when it first launched. It was ok. I didn’t feel anything special about it.

How are these on the street? Be honest. They won’t beat you up right? The car I’m thinking of getting has these on it. With ebach springs

Even with relatively high rates such as 600 lbf/in F and 900 lbf/in R (divorced) with low R and C settings they are quite comfortable. The remote reservoir has an extremely advanced blow-off valve that absorbs large bump as if they are not there (similar to pounding off curbs on track). You still feel the high rates but you can drive 6-7 hours without issue, at least I can and I’m at 700 lbf/in F and 1100 lbf/in R (divorced).

We are all different which makes threads like this hard to gauge. I had 3 F8x cars and then went to a lovely e92 competition, put the Eventuri plenum on it and MPE etc and oh the noise, that wonderful, amazing noise.

But for me that was it, I’d bought “a noise”, I enjoyed it but after 2 years I’m back in an F82 and I feel for me it’s where I want to be.

I’ve tried the new ones and can’t seem to get excited enough to buy one.

2wr are very compliant on the street. I am running 1000 lb F 800 lb R and it soaks up bumps better than my old 2wnr setup on 700F/600R.

After 3 years of ownership of my 2018 M4, was considering a G82, but it’s too big and heavy for me. With some coding mods I have personalized my F82, no stupid driving aids. A very powerful S55, the wild and explosive power is what I like about the S55 more than the lineair S58. Funny that the explosive character was criticized in the past, now it is what most people like about it….

And of course the nice DCT gearbox instead of the boring ZF.

So decided to keep my M4 and ordered a Intrax 1k2 arc coil over set to improve it further.

Nice. I have more money for mods. So after installing CarPlay, tint, and stage 2 tune I’ll get crank hub done, flex fuel kit and e tune.

Yep. I had a supercharged manual m3 e92 for 5 years , m4 3 years, and now another m4. Yas marina blue first and this next one is black.

If yours are 2WNR they perform very well but the remote reservoir on the 2WR separates the compression valving and blow-off valve from the main piston which is just rebound damping as well as the ability to change the pressure acting on the damper fluid. The 2WR has a wider range of damping and increased compression travel so it’s a more compliant setup; however, 2WNR is still an advanced 2-way monotube damper but its internal pressure is fixed.

Did you like the styling of the g82 from any angles? I think it’s best view is looking at the trunk and side from a ~60 deg angle.

Nope. All angles of the G82 are trash compared to the F82. I liked the carbon bucket seats and that was it. I'm on the prowl for a set of those seats for my CS so I can install and then stop thinking about them, hah.

What I meant by “best view” was the only angle that didn’t look like garbage. It has no traditional BMW design cues/details which makes it not look like the successor of the f82. I do agree that the CF buckets are a must have!

Oh right, yes, I agree if we absolutely have to find a "best view". I prefer not to look too long at it, however.

Life is far too short to enjoy only 1 model vehicle, but you do you. It's a pretty aesthetically pleasing vehicle. To me, it lacks some brains and is a far cry from being absolute. I'd say save for the 911.
