285/35/19 with stock 255/35/19

So like some of you my rears are dead and PSS 275/35 is out of stock. I wouldn't mind paying bmw dealer but I actually want the non-specific bmw PSS tire to try.

Could I put a 285/35/19 without any problems on the rears? I believe the 285/35 PSS is in stock

I had a E60 M5 and changed over to the 285-35-19 PSS from PS2, I noticed that it runs very wide compared to the PS2.

I run 255/35 and 285/35 rears (albeit a different tire) and there is no issue. The size difference is too small to matter IMO. The tire difference between a BMW and non-BMW specific compound is also likely not enough to make any noticeable difference.

I wish I kept the pictures showing the big difference in 285 star spec ps2 vs. non star spec pss.

Here are 2 threads ppl talking how wide the 285 PSS runs from the m5board.

What about 290/30/19 on rear with 255/35/19 stock pss up front. That work? They are out of stock of 285s as well. This is crazy

Give the Bridgestone RE71R a try.

I would personally stay with the stock size tires but non BMW spec.

I and several others run the 295/35R19 PSS from the M5 in the back without any issues. The 295 offers a wider contact patch than the 285, so I am sure you'll be fine with the 285 .

Why ?

Size and specs vary so much when changings brands...

Further, OP only needs new rears. I would not recommend going with different tire types front and rear.
