Heads Up Display

Hi there

I'm just learning where everything is on my Comp but noticed that the Heads Up Display isn't - well, displaying.

I've gone into the menus and found the setting for it but the box on the screen wont tick. It gives me all the options for what can be seen when activated but just wont work.

I've checked the original spec sheet from the previous owner and it definitely came with Heads Up (is this standard for M4 comps?).

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get it working?

Thank you

It's not standard, no. But was obviously a fitted option.
Presumably it was working before you accepted the car?
Can you go into the settings & check the brightness isn't set to minimum?
When you get in the car & put the ignition on, can you see the actual screen "moving" (in front of the speedo binnacle)?

I'll have a look tomorrow as it's tucked up in the garage but thanks for coming back to me. Sadly, between checking its history, wheel condition and all the other bits, HUD was at the bottom of my list. I only realised it was on the car when I checked the order spec sheet which specifies S610 Heads Up Display.

I've played with the brightness and other bits but can't see a way of getting it to show up. Looks like I missed this when I collected it as the process was quite different in Covid times.

Bit flummoxed to be honest as to why I can't get the box for HUD to tick. Might be a trip to the dealer sadly - unless anyone is aware of an Indy in the Gloucestershire area who might be able to look at it?

Thanks

You may have your seat height setting too low. My wife was complaining about the same thing (shes 5'2) and when I raised her seat up higher she then was able to see.

Do you have access to any OBD code readers? Might be worth seeing if it is showing any error codes.

And if that is the issue, you can set the height of the HUD, within its limits obviously. But, I suspect that's not it if the tick box isn't active. Strange one. It could be a blown fuse of course.
On the attached diagram link, I believe the HUD symbol is the 4th one down in the left column, which has many fuses linked to it, any of which may prevent its operation...

Something for the dealer to explore probably?

DawnB if this car has a full BMWSH, then take it to a dealer. They should sort this for you, even if out of warranty. But ask first, obviously. If it's looking negative, just mention consumer rights & parts being fit for purpose. They may suddenly have a change of heart...

It seems to be an ex BMW staff car and as such has full BMWSH so I’ll give them a buzz and see if anyone’s home.

Box will not tick sadly so my fight against gravity isn’t the issue at the moment.

judging by your pic in the other tread it does look like it has it. check to see if you have the button for it under the headlight switch as it might be turned off there. Unless its in a different place in convertibles...

Thanks all for your suggestions. Looks like I’ll definitely have to visit the garage for a diagnostic.

I can see it on the main menu but can’t tick it. It’s so showing up won M Drive 1 and 2 with both the M view and standard view but still nothing showing up on the windscreen.

I’m sure it will be sorted soon but wanted to thank you all for your help.
