F80 M3 - replacement rear bumper

Hey guys

I managed to put a small crack in the rear bumper of my 2017 m3 CP by skillfully reversing into a spikey thing.

Speaking to BMW they'd like to replace the bumper with a new part and repaint, looking at about 2K GBP.

Does anyone have any suggestions of other routes to go? I don't want to do a shit repair, but obviously 2 grand is a little painful and I'd be silly not to check.

Thanks in advance!

OEM bumper cover is $950. $2k sounds about right. Labor is maybe a bit steep though.

Replacing the bumper is really the only way to go. Really it's just the bumper skin that'll be replaced. When they pull it off they'll have to look at the actual foam bumper beneath it to see if that was damaged as well.

I was rear ended in stop & go traffic and had relatively minor scrapes in my bumper, they just replaced it with OEM and repainted. The bill was around $2k in USD, so your quote in GBP is a bit higher but that may be just how it is on your side of the pond.

You could always chance buying a used bumper with the same color code and hope the color lines up good enough. Depends on the results you're willing to live with. But then you still have the labor to swap it. Have they removed the bumper yet to see if anything underneath needs to be replaced?
