That is not normal. If that was mine I'd have at the dealer fairly promptly. This looks like it's unrelated to the CF roof, but I'd want to be sure of that.

I believe those are just held down by double sided tape any way.

I had the same happen to my 2018 M3, it started to lift up after about 6 months along the back and front of the left side trim strip.
I fixed it myself with a 2” long strip of 3/4” 3M VHB tape, not a hard fix, I don’t think it will come off. |

That's a fair question. Just remember that the performance of warranty repairs is in the dealer's interest, he gets paid by BMW to do this work. I doubt a dealer would arbitrarily refuse to do a repair in order to protect BMW.

I see, thank you for giving suggestion, but aren't they held by the clips? I just dont want to use the tap to hold it down

I see, but I'm gonna try it. It's kind a defect on a "brand new" car.

Yes, the clips are supposed to hold the trim piece in place, but I did notice some small strips of double sided tape that weren’t holding as they should.
The ends were popping up a little, I doubt the whole trim strip would have come off as the clips were still holding well in the middle section. The tape I used seems to be working fine, plus I doubt I will be ever taking this piece off. |

Not sure why people are saying it's abnormal when it's completely normal. These pieces are not held on with double sided tape, they are held on with trim clips, and with any trim piece, it's not held 100% solid because it's meant to be removed. Go try it on any car with similar trim...the ends all have a little give.

If you want it rock solid for whatever reason, remove it, apply double sided tape, and then you get one shot at laying it down correctly. Snap in the front end, line it up. Put double sided tape on the back end about 2" long. Then press it down. Then lift the front and repeat as you did the back side. press it down. at this point, it will be more solid, but make sure anyone who tries to remove it knows there is tape otherwise they will bend the rail trying to yank it off because it's supposed to come off very easily Last edited by Eric S; 01-16-2019 at 08:07 AM.. |

I think there is no tape come with the stock condition. right?
I notice that not every F80 has the same problem. Some F80 can hold by the clips and will not pop up. Just wonder how I can make it rock solid without double sides tape? Quote:
