MDM/Diff tuning options

Hi all,

I’ve been looking around at the options for this, but there seems to be a lot of incomplete or conflicting info so I just wanted to clarify. I have bootmod3, and have flashed the GTS transmission and Stage 2 E30 engine tune. Now I want to try the GTS and Euro MDM calibrations, as well as the GTS differential calibration. So my questions are:

1) was Thor the only DIY option or are their other apps that can do it too (now that Thor is not available in the US)?
2) can bootmod3 do MDM or differential coding (I believe not from what I see and what I’ve read)?
3) I have BimmerCode and BimmerLink with the OBDLink MX+ - can that code either of those (I couldn’t find the relevant options in the app, but maybe I missed it)?
4) if the above questions are all the above are no, then do I have to get a tuner to do a remote coding to get those?

Thanks again in advance for any clarification on this!

S.

1 and 2 are No because Thor is gone, and this is a "coding" thing so BM3 doesn't apply. The BM3 GTS Trans is actually a "flash" to the TCU.

3…I'm not sure, I don't use those apps.

4…since all you mention are handled well by the pro-coders I'd suggest to let Kubax or AlexAlpine handle these. They both offer an economical package to code your Trans, Steering, Dampers and Diff to CS/GTS, and also doing the Euro MDM. You can also ask about the "extra opened up" MDM, which is even more loose than the Euro version.

When I want the car at-limit I completely shut off DSC/TC and learn to drive properly with foot moderation.

I'm pretty sure the only way to get the EDC/DSC/Steering coding now that THOR is unavailable is via a remote coder from this forum or elsewhere online. I used Kubax and he was great.

Thanks for that - I also turn off all nanny’s when at the track meet, but on the street I like to have some minimal safety due to varying surfaces and conditions. The US MDM is far too intrusive though with the additional power. I will work with a remote coder to get the work done then!

Thanks!

You need an istep coder, recommend Kubax (bimmer-remote.com). He's done two iterations on my car, once for maps and once for EDC, MDM and Diff. Best price, best customer service and reliable.

+1 for kubax86

He did the full GTS coding (steering, LSD, and MDM) on my F80 6MT base, and it's awesome. If you've got a DCT, he can do that too. And if you've got a ZCP, he can also code the CS settings for the EDC.
