Though not a fan of the squashed beetle, I do have to say that the Turbo S looks damn good even while sitting still. That is a testament to Porsche for sticking with the same shape/design but just refining it so well over the years. I wish I could say the same about BMW today.

The GT3 is the purer driving experience while the Turbo is the more practical choice.
The reviews are all unanimous on the 992turbo though: Porsche seem to have infused a fair bit of the "GT2/3" driving experience in this latest turbo iteration, which makes for a compelling proposition .

* The GT3 sounds, looks, and drives SO badass - like a freight train pulling a thunderstorm. It's the car my idealized self wants. needs. * The turbo is cool, sleek, and elegant looking - it's only loud if you're looking at it. It drives like a normal car most all of the time; it's a legit grocery getter if you know how to park and don't mind a hip hinge. It's true, don't @ me. But then, only when you want it, it's absolutely batshit crazy insanely fast. It's the car my real self would actually enjoy most. It's an everyday car that also happens to be a supercar. I think the 911s have morphed into GT cars which isn't necessarily bad and the turbo is the ultimate GT: elegant, useful, mostly quiet, occasionally insane. In spirit it's what the E9x was for me. Neither really fits into my life right now, but ... once borders open up it sure would be fun to ED one and keep it in Germany for the max 9 months ... Maybe drive it through Switzerland & Austria and head for Estoril; always wanted to make that pilgrimage ... or, spend most of the time on the west coast of Norway ... a guy can dream ...

Fav 992 version to date. I've seen this exact spec but in a darker shade of colour. Those silver RIMZ are amazing in person (I'd never get them in black), as is the whole car. It's got the right amount of attitude whilst still looking classy enough.

Just watched, looks real good. A lot of interesting stuff in the press release, seems like a lot of focus went into making these excellent track vehicles.
Just gonna copy and paste the highlights from the other thread. Official Cadillac Press Release Quote:

It is a bit tacky, but honestly compared to the M3/4's reveal, this just seems so much more exciting and driver focused. Just a much better reveal, its really sad that this new M3 just does not excite me for the first time.

Yes, definitely. That Cadillac marketing launch is so much better than what BMW did with the G8X. No comparison.

Very perplexed about G82.
Driving wise, it is one of the few MTs available out there (a plus) with a nicer interior material than F82, but with potentially a more laggy engine and with quite a substantial weight gain. Also the fact that rev limiter at 7200 rpm is exactly the same as the slushbox variant suggests they are being extremely miserly with product differentiation. Remember when E92 M3 got a 8400 rpm limit instead of S85's 8250 rpm just because it gives a more visceral character to the car? And don't even get me started on the electronic parking brake. Design wise there is no respect to the heritage. The grills by themselves are not bad but they seriously lack coherence with the rest of the car. Very unlike BMW. What made 911, or any brand's signature model great lies in recognition and evolutionary interpretations of its historical elements. The car community also builds around the car's substance and reputation. I suppose I can see myself driving a G82 MT if they kept the weight more or less the same as F82 but they did not. And gone are all the substantial carbon fiber elements that comprehensively made F82 great, instead we get a CFRP covid-19 mask and add-ons that ADD weight. Even harder to justify a near $90K price tag when a 718 GTS 4.0 is available for less money, inherently faster around the corners and comes with much more driver engagement. Then one could argue for G82's "practical" advantages to the Porsche: the back seat that nobody really uses, more trunk space, and an option for AWD that only comes with a slushbox, not a DCT. All these things I could do with a high performance car from a different manufacturer. The car is no longer irreplaceable in the comparable category. I guess it is sad for old timers that an M3 that was constantly compared to 911s of the same era and even topped the sports car at times now makes a generic compromised machine that is not very different from MB or Audi. BMW no longer actively "boasting" all the new technologies on the new G82 in the promotional videos unlike its predecessor also proves case in point.

Just like the grills, those three parts will be M-colored with fake badges surrounding it.
