That's configurable, isn't it? I don't have a car (yet), but I believe I read something something about a "classic" setting which is orange/red and "sport" setting which is white.

Maybe I missed it, but what do we know the production date for the "LCI 2.0" M4?

that or talk to a local powdercoater or wheel refinish company..

For about $150-175 per wheel I am sure a wheel repair shop can make then ANY color you want.. as well as take out any nicks and dings in your current wheels in the process.
Plastidiping wheels on a 70k car is... yeah.

Not the cluster display. That changes white/orange on its own based on the amount of daylight. You can change the ambient lighting in the car from orange/white yourself and it stays that color.

The same place they have always been, they just have the cover over them in the video. It was included on cars build before July 1 2014 it seems http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1033337 However you can still buy the cover separately https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-8...uine-bmw-part/

So the interior of the M4 was updated with the M3 in 2016. The silver accents vs black, different color on the HUD/AC/etc. Are you saying there are even more changes coming in the LCI ?

My 16 interior..

There is no such thing as "LCI 2.0". Every BMW vehicle (with rare exceptions that end production early) gets a single LCI half way through its lifespan. This thread covers the 4/M4 LCI. The 3/M3 LCI on the other hand occurred back in 2015.

Sometimes when vehicles receive an LCI, other models that share parts with them will receive some of the included updates as well. This happened to the 4/M4 when the 3/M3 LCI occurred - they got the new iDrive 5.0 (among other minor interior enhancements). And this is now happening to the M3 too - it is getting the 4/M4 headlights (and some minor interior enhancements). Similarly the 3 Series will benefit too - it will get the optional digital instrument cluster from the 4 Series.

The answer to your production date question is here:

Come on BMW, let current 2017 4 series which already have the updated navigation internals, update to the new software that shows live tiles on the navi screen, with a simple software update.

Also make the digital instrument cluster retrofit an official option. Pleeeeeeease

Not the HVAC display. It is white when the headlights are off to match the lettering on the dash and orange to match the rest of the dash when it illuminates with the headlights on. A nice touch IMO.

There was never a consistency there. For example, 6cyl E34 had 2 engine updates (M20->M50->M50TU) and only M50TU coincided with a facelift. E34 M5 had two engines, two transmissions and none of those changes happened at the same time.

LCI is a fairly new term, but it simply means facelift. And yes, there were talks about face lifts.

No, it clearly does not qualify as an LCI, exactly cause of today's standards.
LCI term was introduced with the E9x I believe, now lets look at the E90 changes

2006 - 330i introduced with an N52 engine
2007 - 335i replaces the 330i with the N54 engine
2009 - LCI
2011 - N54 engine

It is pretty clear that LCI has nothing to do with the engines. Facelift/LCI happens to the entire model range at the same time, engine updates happen at different times for different engines. There was never a case when a series was facelifted and the entire engine range was updated as well.

Now back to the E36. Since US is not the center of the world, lets talk ECE.

E36 325i/328i

09/1990 - SOP with an M50 engine
09/1992 - M50TU engine
09/1993 - facelift, redesigned bumper, new headlights
02/1995 - 328i SOP with an M52 engine
09/1996 - facelift, new grill, new side markers

E36 M3

09/1992 - SOP with a 3.0l engine
09/1993 - new headlights
10/1995 - 3.2l engine, 6spd and yes, clear corners
09/1996 - facelift, new grill, new side markers

Clear corners are not part of a facelift. Clear corners were only available on cars with the M Sport package(hence why the M3 gets them), Comfort package and Exclusive edition. They were not implement across the entire model range.
I concede, you seem to have a much better recollection of BMW history than me

Whilst I agree with your overall premise, the idrive 5 wasn't introduced during the LCI of the 3/M3 it was introduced as model year enhancement MY17 IIRC, I have an LCI M3 MY16 and it doesn't have idrive 5.

The lights are OssDesign 6k iconics. You can message luis@ossdesigns for pricing as it varies depending on the options you select.

I wasn't aware you even had model years in the UK.

Edit: You are correct. My mistake.

July 2015 was LTE map updates, HUD changes, and ConnectedDrive enhancements. In any case, although they were advertised by BMW as part of the 3/M3 LCI, they also applied to the 4/M4.

July 2016 was iDrive 5.0.

I've liked them from the beginning.. The F8x M cars have were a little more immune to this than the prior two generations.. but ever since the E46 M3 came out.. it seems like it's practically considered gauche to rock the stock wheels on a BMW M car..
