2016 M3 feels "loose" after differential swap plus hiberation

I bought a 2016 M3 competition pkg last year and when I took it to have the first oil change at 1,200 miles discovered that I had won the rear differential replacement lottery. The replacement was done in November of last year and I immediately stored the car for the winter.

As I drive it now it seems to me that the back ends seems much more "loose" than it did before the replacement. Does that make any sense, can one be related to the other?

I didn't notice a difference at all personally but that's not to say something didn't change on yours.

I basically did the same thing as you. Received my M3 in July of 2016, had the differential replaced in early late November. Didn't drive my car much in the winter. Though I did drive it every couple of weeks or when weather permitted. Mine seems the same after the replacement.

Just wondering, wan you explain you mean by loose or how it seems different to you?

Todays update.
Had a flat on the way to work 1,950 miles on the tires.
The stock tires with the car - run flat.

Drove it to the dealer.
When they had it up on the hoist they said I needed to replace both rear tires because of wear.
They did not have the tires and had to order them.
They say once they put on the tires if the alignment is out they will go to BMW for comp.
If it isn't out its up to me to deal with Michelin.

Did your car come with run flats as far as i know M's dont come with run flats.

Is BMW replacing them free of charge?

The dealer told me they were and I used that info to drive back to the dealer with them.
Just called them again and they again said they were.
Ask him to go out and confirm and have not heard back yet.

Not clear what BMW is doing.
They said if the alignment was out they would go to BMW corp for me.
Not sure that means they are going to replace for free.
If it wasn't it sounded like I was on my own to deal with Michelin.

Suggestions?

That's... not good. I would be screaming at whoever you talked to at the dealer for telling you they are run flats.

OTOH, you couldn't read the tires yourself and figure out what they are??

After you've had the rear diff replaced, you need to effectively drive another "Break-in" period before you romp on it. So if you had it swapped at 1200, you should give it another 1000-1200 and have the diff oil changed yet again. Until going through that, you should be gentle to the rear end...

Had this issue at Costco when ordering a replacement set. For some reason everytime they pulled up the stock number for the Stock tires (MPSS) it kept coming up as runflat. I had to tell the guy a million times that the OEM MPSS are NOT runflats by any means

Yes, I guess I could have figured it out myself i.e., if they were run flat.
However, I did not think of doing that once BMW told me they were.
At the end of the day BMW agreed to pay for the tires.
The alignment was out when they measured it.

Yes I have to take it back at 2,500 after the differential replacement for a second break in period.
I certainly was not driving faster than the break in period allowed.
I'll be watching the tires closely now to see if this starts to happen again.
