Getting a tune without proper research and it made me hate the car because it was undriveable (VF crap) now have Alex @ Alpine which is amazing

replica diffuser that was 1 1/2 inches too short and screwed up weave so I went with Vorsteiner and wow big difference

Buying a lip lowered with so many hills, got destroyed in like 4 days

Everything else has been regret-free!

Don't buy replica parts! Come and buy my authentic 3D, vorstiner and SG rear diffuser and 3D lip for 1/2 the price you get real part with no fitment or any headache

one of my regrets is overslapping carbon fiber pieces on the car.
When I first got it I installed the trunk spoiler, upper splitters, lower splitters, lip, side blades and diffuser.
I have since painted my trunk spoiler to match the color and removed the uppoer and lower front splitters. I also replaced the front lip with a Lightweight lip and the car finally looks classy again

one of the most tastefully modded F80s nice work

First car: F30 328i

Regrets: Getting used aftermarket wheels with offset that was too aggressive. Tires were dangerously under sized for the wheel. I also plasti dipped the wheels without proper prep so the dip was always peeling. I also realized after buying the wheels that all the wheels had curb rash. Looking back, this whole thing is cringey to me now - but i was young and dumb. I told myself no more used wheels (which i never followed).

Good Mods: Form fitting front spliter that changed the entire look of the sport line. After market exhaust (although i would just get a mid pipe now that i have more knowledge about exhaust systems).

Second car: F82 M4

Regrets: Bought very aggressive carbon front spliters, side skirts, diffuser and deck lid spoiler. All these mods were pretty much real carbon and very good quality. My issue is not with the actual mods but with the fact that i never lowered the car. Only way this setup would tie together is if i lowered. I couldn't lower because the front spliter stuck out about 3 inches from the front bumper. If i had to do it again, i would have just lowered the car and let it be. Another regret is spending $600 xpel wrapping front spliter and side skirts. Also regret using tint wrap on front headlights.

Good Mods: Perfect fitment after market wheels, secondary cat and resonator delete (cost $500 including labor).

Current Car: C7 Z06

Regrets: I would say that i should have just saved money by not buying aftermarket wheels. Especially since i found out after buying used wheels that three of the wheels had slight bends. This was extremely annoying since i found out at the tire mounting shop after i spent $400 powder coating them.

Good mods: Lowered car on stock suspension (It has adjustable suspension). Got a proper alignment. Suntek wrap on the front. Aftermarket wheels were not all bad though, they have perfect fitment. Bought genuine corvette side skirts and stage 2 spoiler.

Conclusion from my experience:
- Realize that you will eventually trade in the car and loose most of the modding money. So mod reasonably.
- Lowering car should be first mod.
- When buying used wheels check to make sure wheels have correct offset and are not bent
- Alignment is worth it

Thanks for starting this thread....some good info/feedback here.

Man, I really, really, really want to get the CF splitters and lower lip. I just think it looks great on a lowered car. I just need to measure the angle of my driveway to see it it's worth it.

I'm lowered on H&R Sports and picked up the cheap ebay Ikon lip as I was unsure if I'd scrape, sure enough I scrape in my driveway, on one of my side streets in my neighborhood that has a raised sewer cover, and on one of the roads on the way to work. I'd definitely be regretting it if I picked up a CF lip, I'm wagering it'd crack after some time.

Just out of curiosity, why did you regret tinting the headlights? I was thinking of doing mine.

Armytrix Exhaust for me. It was way too loud, didn't sound good, and my exhaust specifically didn't have the valves working which didn't help.

Running ESS S1 tune + AA Catless downpipes with stock mid and rear and it sounds so much better and much more "daily" drivable.

Less light output at night. This can be avoided by removing headlight housing, painting inside and baking it. When you go this route, you do run the risk of the housing not sealing properly and getting condensation.

Good to know. I was thinking of going with vivids light smoke tint as a DIY. The good news is it comes right off if I don’t like it but I’ll keep this in mind.

Do not combine downpipe catless with midpipe catless ... it will sound like shit . loud but not good .
Agree about going for quality when it comes to any mods. Makes for significantly better fitment and customer service in the event of an issue.

Have to disagree about the full cat delete. I had VRSF downpipes and AA midpipe - sounded infinitely better than stock or the VRSF pipes alone. However, the exhaust odor was just too much for a daily driver and final straw was hearing the wife start to nag about the garage smelling and not wanting to take the M4 anywhere.

Swapped over to AR Design catt'd downpipe with the AA mid and have been greatly pleased.

Are there no good M Performance style front splitter or rear diffusers out there? I have an 340 M sport and the rear diffuser fits 99.5% well (ebay one).

Huge fan of your channel! I gotta admit, I wasn’t such a fan of all the CF mods, but that’s just personal preference. I still sortve think that there is too much CF even out of factory. I love the idea of CF but wish BMW had an option for a factory painted roof. I went with a darker color this time (from AW to MG) mainly for this reason.

Thank you!!
And yes initially I definitely overdid it with the carbon fiber. I have toned it down a bit now and all is well! :0)

Matching reflectors give it a nice clean look. A must in my book.
