Should I be concerned about using Sport Plus engine mode all the time?

Just ordered a M4 with 6MT. I understand the car has auto rev match but in Sport+ engine mode this "feature" is disabled. I personally like taking responsibility for my own rev matching so I'll likely be having my car in sport + all the time.

Have any of you seen any disadvantages in keeping your M4 in Sport+ all the time (even in rain), i.e. harsh ride, lack of traction, etc?

Thanks

I use sport+ exclusively for this reason. Turns out it's no big deal, and the throttle map is quite manageable.

I have a DCT, but I run in Sport+ throttle 99% of the time. No issue. The only arguable disadvantage I can see is that some find the direct, instant throttle response to be too jumpy. I'm not one of those people. YMMV.

That's because you have a 2018. Throttles on 2015 are a vicious bitch

Aren't both of you basically saying the same thing?

I keep my DCT M3 in Sport+ 99.9% of the time because I like the quick throttle response and the louder exhaust. Yesterday I had to drive in Efficient because my mother in law was in the car and I couldn't believe how different the throttle response was.

I wait till the engine is warm until Sport+. Unsure if necessary but makes me feel better. Besides neighbors would hate me, if not already.

ya have a 2015 can confirm sport + will shake you bad if your not perfect on the throttle. Getting ISTEP update in like 4 days to 2018 so should fix it although ill lose the hard shifts.

Sport + all the time. Horrible mileage that way but who cares. Not a Prius.

I'd be more concerned with not using the + mode enough.

I also am in sports+ 99.9% of the time(2018 6sp comp pack). Also almost always in sports mode for both suspension and steering. Just really prefer the car that way, regardless of where and how I’m driving. I also don’t want or need rev matching.

I found myself wondering what the non Sport+ modes were for?

Sports+ sends engine cooling into overdrive with the fans running constantly in anticipation of heavy track use. Anything that gets used more often breaks down sooner. How much sooner, I have no clue, but it is a data point.

A lot of these professional reviewers seems to favor the long throttle but I’m sure we know better.

I prefer mostly sp+ as well unless I have non enthusiast guests.

I have that on M2 setting, its definitely doable for daily but I have the tendency to want to drive like a mad man.

M3: Would you like to make the car less responsive and powerful?

Me: No thanks. And don’t ask me again.

You can't drive a car like this and worry about some extra wear on the cooling fans.
