How loud is your 6MT flywheel?

Currently sat in the car, idling, and it's pretty audible in the cabin. Noise goes away when I press the clutch pedal, obviously

OP was talking about idling at a stand still.

Sounds like it could be a throwout bearing.

dont worry - it's a bit of an odd noise but what can you do - learn how to live with it.

Do you also get that "clunk" when you hit the clutch?

Find someone local with MT and compare. Go to dealer if there is an issue. Bring your friends MT car along if possible so that dealer does not send you home with nothing.

Yes, mine "clunks" all the time when stationary and going into first or reverse.

doubt this is an issue. The flywheel is loud...no where near my G35. It rarely clunks, and you can notice the difference between ignition off (clutch/engaged/disenged). I can hear the difference between clutch being in or out.

I haven't heard anything from mine (6MT). Those who hear a clunk when the clutch engages are probably hearing the U-joints.

I hear the same clunking sound; but to me what it sounds like is the actual Clutch Discs chatter; my triple disc clutch on the Civic sounds identical to what i'm hearing. You can hear them still spinning slightly as you push in to engage the clutch during hard acceleration. (assuming this is what OP is talking about)

I'd be curious to find that this were the U-joints instead chatter from the clutch

edit: also i find there's much more noticable clutch chatter when oil is cold vs normal operating temps.

Didn't someone post about a noisy clutch and they ended up taking it apart and finding a charred piece of paper or label inside the clutch?

Hmmmm, the flywheel is attached to the engine, so pressing the clutch while idling should have no effect on the noise it makes. The noise you are hearing likely emanates from the gearbox or the clutch itself.

A week later and no updates from OP? Wonder if he/she has a chance to take it to the dealership. Curious to know outcome besides, "this is normal."
