JB4 map 1 vs JB1
Guys,
Is there any difference between JB4 map 1 and JB1? Looking at the BMS install instructions for both they both plug into the same two sensors. Do either have the ability to adjust fuelling and timing or are they both just ramping up the boost and letting the ECU compensate? |

Was wondering the same thing. Been reading around the forum and everyone recommends JB4 for ZCP over the stage 1 but you are literally plugging the same 2 sensors.

It’s not about if their stage 1 programs are different than each other. It’s about how expandable they are. The bms stage 1 module can only do that, stage 1. Nothing else, just stage 1. There are only two plugs with the bms stage 1 module. With the jb4, you have 6 plugs as well as Bluetooth expandability. With the jb4, you can go only stage 1 (zip tie the rest of the 4 plugs away) or you can connect the the two stage 1 plugs along with the obd port extension effectively making “stage 2.” Or you can go even further and plug in the fuel plug and waste gate sensors to go stage 3.

I get that. Like me, I’m not looking to go any further than stage 1 but read a few threads where for a ZCP M4, it is recommended to get JB4 over BMS stage 1 but it is essentially the same thing at stage 1 only. I don’t like adjustment and stuff. Just plug (or flash) and go.

The JB4 has CANbus and fuel control so the performance is better than Stage1, but they are fairly similar. The JB4 has a lot more features like CANflash, in dash gauges, and stuff, that make it worth the small extra cost in my opinion.

I don't want any of the extra 'features' and I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of going beyond stage 1.
Now is there any difference between JB4 map 1 and jb1 ? |

I’m familiar with the capabilities of the JB4 when FULLY connected. But in the instruction, when only doing stage 1, it only requires the 2 same plugs as the BMS Stage 1. So the point is, if you only going to do stage 1 why not just get the BMS Stage 1?

CANbus allows the JB4 to read in every vehicle sensor including pedal input, engine speed, throttle position, air/fuel ratio in both banks, DSC, driving mode, engine knock, etc, and use that data to provide much more advanced tuning. That said map1 is fairly mild so it's not going to be *that* different than Stage1. But it's not the same that is for sure. |
