Installed downpipes, now my turbos are off?

I installed downpipes on my car over the weekend and got the engine code below:

Drivetrain Malfunction: Drive Moderately

120408 charge pressure control, shutdown: pressure build-locked

Both of my turbos are now off, can you tell me what I might have done wrong? Wondering if this happened to anyone else..

I need my turbos back in my life haha.

Check the charge pipes. If they're cracked then that's one reason why there is no boost. Fairly easy and simple fix if that's the case as charge pipes are cheap and easy to install.

From the sounds of it, your charpipes either cracked or popped off. Be sure to check heat exchanger side too

Pinched/damaged wire controlling the actuators? Or damaged the actuators when installing DP?

Glad to hear you got it sorted. What did BMW charge and what did they say about the DP's, if anything?

Warranty?

Yikes!

Glad you got it sorted but.. why take it to BMW? Hopefully your car didn't get flagged for mods.

Kudos for being accepting of that fact that we all make mistakes hopefully no negative ramifications from the dealer seeing your mods?

Thank you for this post!

Made the same mistake. Rotated the V-clamps too far around the connection between downpipe and turbo, so that the bolt blocked the wastegate actuator arm from doing its test on ignition. And as a result of this - emergency program and no turbos.

Had the same error code as you.

Now the V-clamp is rotated back again and the turbos now spools as h**l and no emergency program... Happy days

3 years later this post helped me, literally the same scenario, just installed vsrf downpipes, everything went smooth even the first test drive, but out of nowhere I got the drivetrain malfunction with the 120408 code, after reading this post I crawled back under there checked the clamps and sure enough one of them was blocking the wastegate arm from closing…. Moved it started the car, got my turbos back, life is good, thank you for posting, thank this forum!✊🏽

I have the same drivetrain malfunction code
With these codes also showing in bootmod3

However i took mine to a shop to get installed and thought the tune would fix it.

Possible my wastegate is being blocked also?

Screenshot with more codes on it are before i cleared them

Screenshot with 2 codes are post clear
