M3/M4 B road tramlining

Hi Chaps,

Is it me or does the M3/M4 have a nasty tendency to (and in some cases violently) tramline on our poor B roads?

There are a number of B roads around me (particularly on my daily commute route) that either have the sides subsiding away or have had pipes/cables laid with the subsequent refill having compressed to create a groove.

On more than one occasion now the tramling has had such a sudden, violent and severe impact on the steering that I’ve nearly ended up in the ditch!

I’ve had to seriously reduce my speed on these roads from my previous DD* as a result! (*mark 6 Golf GTI).

Interested to hear your thoughts/experiences so far.

Many thanks,
Joe

Passive or Adaptive? Just curious on the setup. Thx

Edit*
couldn't wait I did some snooping and found you have adaptive suspension. Does this happen in all modes? Is there a noticed difference with this between comfort and sport settings? Thx for the info, I am still on the fence to go adaptive or not.

Adaptive (It's standard here in the UK) - It's in sport mode most of the time although comfort isn't a great deal better regarding this issue on those roads.

hmm... interesting. Thanks for the info. I appreciate the response. I would have thought that comfort mode would be much better. Guess it's more to do with the setup and tires.

Have you checked the tyre pressures. I have in the past had cars delivered with tyres very overinflated which might not help.

Thanks for the advice, all 4 tyres were slightly overinflated + now I've got use to the wider front tyres, things are feeling better.

+ Having driven a much wider variety of A/B roads in it now it's far less noticeable - In fairness I think the roads on my daily commute are particularly bad.
