I figured I would try and be helpful and give a starting place vs just saying, "you should search and find the answers to all your questions". Though, as you and I know, the latter is the real solution. Most people don't have the patience to read a hundred-page SCH thread, but If they did…

Poll helps at least with sample size. Stats say this happens but is relatively small in terms of population of cars out there and needing fix. Otherwise i kinda agree we'd see more from dealers and shops on this who've had to repair cars either under warranty or denied claims from BMW. Of course those on forum are enthusiasts and more willing to mod and upgrade their cars so sample size may be unrealistically larger than overall general population of cars out there without this occurring.

That said I'd not do a BM3 mod on a car under warranty just because of the fact that it would likely void my powertrain warranty as many have alluded to. Since my car is out of warranty and I am 2nd owner then BM3 away and keep funds for either upgraded part or modded plate fix just in case is my decided option.
