All that matters is the situation is looking like it’s resolved for OP

NickyC is right, let those with proper authority deliver justice if it’s needed, scammer is already caught dead to rights anyway

When you get the wheels, inspect them and make sure they are authentic 763M wheels and not knock offs. In some weird fashion, his “brother” might have sent you replica wheels on accident.

My theory is scammer made up a fake story about his brother when he realized he wasn’t going to get away with screwing someone out of their hard earned money. Sucks to suck douschebag.

At the very minimum HPD15M3 could validate if mrgamby even has a legitimate brother, given his resources.

My younger side —- part of me says let him get what he deserves for doing what he did. Bc now he’s crying that he got caught.

My adult side — maybe he is dealing with stuff in his private life and give him the benefit of the doubt. Don’t involve his job and let it be once the issue is resolved.

Hpd15m3 —- You are an OG for helping Op out. Some good people are still around.

I’m not an advocate of vigilante justice nor will I post an individual’s private information on a public forum. However, I will assist the OP in resolving his issue. I look at it from a criminal and legal point of view. As of right now, the OP has been scammed out of $3600. Whoever the scammer is, has used a phone number to communicate with the OP which comes back to the area from where the clamps were shipped from. The scammer has committed a federal crime as soon as he shipped the item across state lines. There is a preponderance of evidence, even right now, that shows intent to defraud the OP. From switching phone numbers and addresses, to the communication, via f80post, from the scammer. We are only taking the tip of the ice berg here. What about the shipping label. How easy is it to get a time stamp off of it and go view CCTV video from the shipping store to show you exactly who shipped item? How easy is it to get a business record affidavit for f80post to prove the IP address of the scammer?

Speaking from experience, I highly doubt there are many organized crime rings or individuals who would go out of their way to ship clamps to the OP. Most of these guys use burner phones and number and disappear as soon as they take your money. In OP’s case, the scammer actually used a physical facility to ship out a fraudulent item. Highly stupid on his part. He then implicated himself by blaming a family member and then changed it to personal problems, thus confirming that he actually was involved in the transaction.

I’m here with the rest of you guys because I share a passion for cars. I’m also passionate about my work and I despise criminals who take advantage of innocent people. For that reason, I stand behind the OP in full support.

Even I am surprised at how this post took off. I truly thank you all so much for the support, but please hear me very loud and clear: I am not asking, nor have I ever asked, anyone on this forum to take any matter related to this in their own hands.

Like all of you, I don't understand the story. Weird world these days. But, all I know is I now have two tracking numbers for a package of 93lbs and one of 104lbs. So, I'm assuming the wheels are indeed on the way this time.

I will definitely report back once I receive them on condition and genuity.

He definitely pulled that story out his ass about his brother. He should be apologizing and man up. Say you made a mistake and own it. Still deserves an ass whooping. My mom was scammed 26k so despise anyone who goes that low. Today I was driving and this homeless guy had a sign that said "I would rather be ashamed and beg for money than to steal it from you". I gave him $20. I don't know if he meant it but at least he wrote it.

Truth be told, mrgamby appeared to be super honest and pleasant when I was conversing with him. That made the shock factor that much more when this happened.

He's been so pleasant throughout, so much so that I almost believe him. Ultimately, it's his responsibility regardless.

I'm waiting to see how these wheels arrive. I pray that they were packaged well and that there is no more to this saga. I was so out of sorts about this on Friday when I drove to the police station, that I scraped my bumper while parking.

That's how conmen work - they prey on your confidence, make you feel vulnerable, and use your good intentions against you.

Although the story isn't over yet, I'm really hoping it's a happy ending on this one

So… when are the wheels arriving? Live stream of the unboxing? Or at least record it for evidence just in case…

Also i think you should get some refund for your troubles. If any damage, make sure to contact him and request refund to fix damage

it obviously spilled AFTER the crash.
the part that doesn't make sense is that he said he couldn't start and move the car because it was inop and blocking a parking garage, but then when he posted photos the car was clearly not blocking the garage and had been moved somehow.

The culprit in the water jug caper gets a pass. Those familiar with the story understand why. I'm betting Kevin's brother lacks similar qualities.

I wish you'd been around last year when I got scammed on here for only 350 bucks. I never did hear from the dude that took my money and he hasn't logged into that account again since back in 12/20. So he either dropped dead or made a new account.
