Yeah a lot of people unwittingly refer to the CS as "2018 Grey" but we all know it's a bit different. Here's a front shot showing the hood lines well.

Your old m3 cs got nice suspension set up look just right, do you still remember what are you running then? And now that you've been driving m4 x drive is there anything you think you can do differently with m3 cs to perform a little better than what you have set up before.

Can't believe I'm considering this but I may throw my spare MPHAS on my car. CanAutM3 jmg NYG What did you guys find works best for your CSs when you had them? Height, rake, etc. Looking for performance > optics.

Corner balance. Also, while it's not 100% necessary, you can balance the car with you in the driver seat to account for your weight.

I use a local shop that ONLY does alignments for high performance driving with owners that track their cars. They can help you set up your car, especially if and when you go beyond just height adjustments.

For my car, we start with the rear height and adjusted it to almost flush. Then balanced the rest of the car. There should be slightly more gap in front. Typically, people want even gap for aesthetics, but that's actually not ideal. You will have too much weight on the front, which will affect your braking and turn in dynamics.

Suspension was simply MP-HAS with a proper corner balance and 12mm spacers in back, 15 in front. My shop raised the rear to where it wasn't tucked, then balanced the load across all 4 wheels.

A proper 2 or 3 way adjustable coilover system was something I always wanted to do to the M3 CS, but never got the chance. The chassis of the G82 is a bit stiffer than the F80, at least it seems so to me. A rear strut brace might be a consideration, as well as a sway bar kit to really tie it all together.

Lowering the car improves overall handling performance by reducing the weight transfer during cornering and braking. However too low will result in insufficient travel that will have the car more readily riding the bump stop in certain conditions. Finding just the right amount is key.

I'd say setting the proper rake is the most fundamental aspect. Altering the ride height changes the roll center and how much the car resists roll on each axle. Rake therefore has a direct impact on the over/understeer behaviour of the car. I originally had my car too low in the front relative to the rear, which resulted in the rear resisting more of the roll and hence struggled with corner exit traction. Slightly raising the front by 6mm brought better balance to the handling which allowed the car to much better put the power down on corner exit. It does not take much to make a noticeable difference.

After some fiddling, I settled with on ride height of 603mm front and 618mm rear as measured by the BMW methodology with the 19"/20" front/rear 763M wheels.

I need to find my old alignment data but aggressive forward rake for sure. It will improve the car's turn in significantly but because HAS is so soft, you'll overload the front brakes pretty often. I never corner balanced my car but I ran some of my fastest laps with a passenger so I think jmg has the right idea.

I do want to say that getting the HAS instead of a full coil over suspension was a huge regret.

Thanks all, just considering it as part of a few off season tweaks I'm planning on making to the car. Doing the following: 1. Seat + Harness Bar + Harness, 2. 2. Square 200tw tire setup (either 275 or 285) once the Cup 2s are toast. May do solid thrust arm bushings and MPHAS.

Agree on the corner balance, I had my F82 balanced previously. I may even run the car at max height and just have it corner balanced.

Yeah your drop looked pretty functional - is the BMW method from the ground to the center cap? Do you think that's in line with stock rake? I feel like even with the rears set lower on my F82, the rake was still very aggressive.

Hmm okay good to know, more aggressive than stock? I'm running PFC11s and SRF and haven't had any issues with front brakes yet, but I'm about 10 seconds off what is achievable with a stock F80 at my local track (~2.5 mile track, right now i've run 2:02 w/ passenger, really fast guys are in low 1:50s and F80 is capable of that stock, really really fast built time-attack guys are running 1:45ish), so I have plenty of braking left to incorporate. My goal is to hit 1:55 or better by the end of next season.

Yeah, the car has reverse rake from the factory.

Which track?

Gotcha - I had thought there was some forward rake from factory. I won't usually say no to more front end grip though.

Track is Ridge Motorsports Park - lap below w/ passenger and let off at the end for flame boi. There's a 3-4 seconds left on the table just from cleaning up my line alone. I also should be carrying about 10mph more just about everywhere.

That's a sweet little track. Nice driving too! You can probably gain a solid 5 seconds just from threshold braking deeper but you'll want to build up to that.

You're probably carrying less speed because of the inherent understeer the car has so the front rake will help. It stops going in the direction of your steering really early.

Front camber and setting front toe at zero will help a lot.

Appreciate it! Yeah I've got a ton more room to brake later - getting deeper into braking zones every time I'm out there. Yah going to play with my alignment settings as well. I'm wearing pretty evenly on my tires at -2.0 and very slight toe-in, but I have linear adjustment up to -3.0 and a minuscule amount of toe out marked on my camber plates. Doubt I'll push anywhere close to -3.0 given my current pace, but maybe a couple tenths of a degree beyond -2.0 to get to 0 toe (gotta check my alignment specs for the specific position).

You'll get up to pace fast. Since the front suspension is fixed, you'll want to get at least 2.5/2.6 from my experience to get decent temperature gradient in hard cornering. The multi-link in the rear is pretty good with 1.8.

CS owners, need help with the MPHAS kit for this car please. The dealer is telling me none is offered, and I keep referring them to part number: 33-50-2-414-216

https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...it-33502414216

Isn’t this correct? I’d like them to do the work to prevent any warranty issues but they’re telling me there is no kit for the CS. Thanks!

The dealer is clueless. They thought my MPHAS was aftermarket and wouldn't cover a speed sensor that was malfunctioning till I provided the part number.

As far as the dealer doing the work, I'd avoid that if I were you. As long as you use an OEM/M Performance parts and have them installed by a reputable shop, you'll be fine. That's what I did.

Dealership doesn't know anything. All they can do is read from a book like neanderthals - there's no common sense. The entire suspension assembly/geometry is exactly the same on the CS. Since the HAS was released before the CS, probably, it's not listed as compatible but there's a ton of us on here that ran it and everything fit perfectly.
